I use these metal things to level screed and plastering walls, you can find it two size 10mm and 6mm. Where can i buy it in UK, which store?? Many thanks

They are just expansion joints.. Any tile store like Tile giant etc can order direct for you and some actually stock them but if you want bulk buys then online might be better..

PVC ones might be better.. Boltseal - Genesis Trims, Tools, Tile Care & Sealants

Could try a architrave and feature bead, might be a bit cheaper..

Great idea though, i think Phil uses some sort of similar system for leveling compounds.
Bed these in perfectly level, then fill the floor with compound until it's all level between these strips.
I like it and will try it soon.

I have found this - Plaster Flatness Guide - Anglebead - Plastering -Building Materials - Wickes . One thing i cant understeand, they say it is suitable for novice. I think it is for professionals and make surface perfect flat with time savings.

I think the point they are making ith that statement is that a professional floor screeder or plasterer wouldnt necessarily have them. Therefore its aimed more at the DIY market

Ok, if professional plasterers do not need them, please tell me how they do plaster perfect vertical and flat with is very important for tiling???

Technique mostly, if you can run your hand over the wall and feel if its flat you can do the same with a trowel in your hand. I do all my own prep and am self taught in most of what i do but i dont use those things on walls, i use a straight edge to rule off the undercoat plaster as its going off. This takes the top off any high spots and kind of shaves the wall. Any minor undulations or low spots can be taken up with the skim finish.

Sorry i dont want to be intrusive but you cant do perfect vertical surface not using those guides. I am writing about surface to tile not to paint. As you said many times on this forum for tiling most important is surface preparation.

Surface prep is paramount ot he job yes but it doesnt have to be that perfect, there wouldnt be any fun if it was like a sheet of glass. That where the skills in tiling come from, being able to overcome the high and low spots on a wall without losing the great finished result.

For the average size bathroom in the UK i really dont see they are needed, on a larger surface area then to break it down into bays yes.

I did not mean smooth but vertical and flat. If it is perfect, tiling is faster and adhesive saving ( i apply not more then 4 mm), that why i use those guiders as at picture from first post. I think that it is for professionals not for amatours or home DIY.
