The Legend; Phil Hobson RIP

yeh mate i think it is just gonna be a struggle and it hasnt gone to plan but iu can cope with the real world i hope... i am still booked to do the showroom so hopefully it will bring a fair bit of work if i can manage to impress with my tiling... if not i will go and jump off a building being the failed father i am!

Ash, just stick at it mate, I became self employed at the tender age of 24 I struggled then, with a big mortgage an two very young boys.

I am now 62, with two grown up sons, I have had some great times, and some hard times. I am still struggling today, famine or a feast.

It is all part of being a self employed tiler. Just do it, do it, do it.

ive been told many times on this site that the first few years will be a waiting for the phone to ring game. but my business mentor is telling me i need to be getting days booked into my diary and i need at least 2 weeks solid work each month nbut i cant see it happening so i think its going to go very sour very quickly as i have to sign off with not a penny to my name. i have been out and about all week calling bathroom places i have a couple of shops to go and hand cards in on monday that is about all i have managed to acheive so far but im just going to keep naggin people until they give me work lol

I have spoken with hostels this week and worryingly they said they thought he had died.
spoken with his father who lives in Hollywood I think and he not heard for 9 months.
i will be coming up next week and just doing the streets .
Would be useful if anyone can give me points where homeless meet up in Birmingham .food points ,. Clothes hand out places .
been a long time since I have been on the streets surviving but I know the habits .just don't think I have enough time to pinpoint him in a week.

jonny i think your best bet may be to go to some hostals and ask where they have been sleeping rough that way you may find him a lot faster and the sooner the better i hope he is well mate

Just do what a lot do ash if you don't make it ;)

In all seriousness ash ,we ALL have to go through this,it's hard work.
I was the same as Phil when I went self employed in 94/5, child, mortgage van ect ect to pay for, some hard times were had(plus the wife was SE as well)but you have to get out the habit of the benefit system which a lot will not do ,but ,bite the bullet,be skint for a year, struggle, work hard, make enough just to live, and everything falls into place.
I'm 43 now,had some hard times, the wife even worse this last few years, wanting to jack it in ,but she stuck to it and it's turning around.
My mortgage is paid off in 7 years,I'm building up a house a year to rent out( 3 now in 3 years) want a few more then me and my girls are sorted.
Work hard and it pays off, when times are hard, stick your chest out, lift your chin and bat it out
