hi there.
ive just had my bathroom tiled and think there maybe a problem.
my tiles are porcelain 60cm * 30cm and the guy who fitted them used weber.fix plus.
i was told in tile shop that the adhesive to use is a rapid set flexible adhesive with porcel bond.

i was told by tile store that if the tiler uses ready mix in a tub,he is using the wrong adhesive as per british standards.
the adhesive he used is called "weber.fix plus" in a tub.it also states on tub that it is meant for ceramic tiles 30cm * 30cm and not to be used on non porous tiles to non porous surfaces the tiler also tiled the floor with rapid set adhesive and grouted within half an hour which ive been told should not be done because adhesive needs to set and dry out.
can you please help on this matter
cheers

Wrong adhesive to use from a tub (dispersion adhesive), the porcel bond is a Bal adhesive. I would be speaking to your tiler about what he used

Hello boro and welcome....

mmm what can i say....wrong adhesive for the walls....not suitable for that size tile....as for floor...what was the substrate.....half an hour is really quick setting adhesive...which one was it..?

Also what grout was used,,?

flexi rapid set including porcel bond.he started laying floor tiles at 1pm approx and had grouted and left my house by 2pm approx.thanks for replying.much appreciated

sorry i forgot to put which grout was used.the make of the adhesive and grout was superflex.it says on packet suitable for porcelain tilesincluding porcel bond.it also says on packet do not grout until adhesive has fully set and ime sure on the adhesive packet it said minimum 24 hrs

thanks for greeting.as yav can probably ime having a bit of a problem with the tiling whats been done in my bathroom.totally gutted:mad2:

If he's grouted those tiles in half an hour it means he's put weight on them whilst setting and will come unstuck. Get him back boroboy

thanks for advice there mate.i dont think they will be back as work as stopped with no money parted from me to the bathroom fitters.i was getting a complete refurbishment of my bathroom by this small company.they have removed my old bathroom, alterded pipework to suit.
they have tiled all walls and floors wrongly( quite obvious to me after help from you guys).
it is now getting a bit political and probably will end up in court which i find ridiculous and i still have no working bathroom and have done nothing wrong

no way should they have used a tubbed addy for tiles of that size a spf powered adhesive should have been used as for the floor wish i could lay and grout in an hour
but like faith said they will come probably come unstuck. oh and were your walls plastered or not.

he had the tiles already cut and ready in place because he was in a rush, the walls were plastered in areas here and there and parts of the wall painted and tiled

did he tile straight over the tiles which were already on?
because with this size of tiles 60cm x 40cm its not something i would have done id have no idea how well the tiles were bonded to the wall, i would also say that the tiles you have had fitted would weigh morethan the guidlines suggest for a plastered wall 20 kg per sqm.
