Which is the best way to tile over electric UFH system ?

per day?

I wouldn't even be answering my phone when he rings if thats the total price of the job!!

- adhesive
- Grout
- Tax / diesel, usual costs
- damage to UFH
= you owe him about £300

That price is just for labour costs he is paying for all the tiles, adhesive etc and hes picking me up and dropping me off.

It did say that price but it was edited out by the moderator for some reason.

depends on your curcumstances as to whether its a good price or not.
If you do it in 1 day, its a good price.
but I doubt it very much.

For me, I'd rather have control over my jobs. But it sounds like he's in control to me though, for that reason, I'm Out!

Its more or less a square room the kitchen is not fitted. 1 day to tile it half a day to grout and clean up the next day...That's why i wont be doing it if i have to tile directly on to the UHF system too much hard work for a small price me thinks. I'll wait and see when he gets back to me

It beats me why people think its cheaper to use adhesive...after all that adhesive has to fill in between the wires and over , then you need a thickness of adhesive for the tile. If you slc you do that and it fills in all voids, gets you a nice flat floor and the tiling process is far superior let alone quicker.
It seems to me that the clients think that slc ( the compound itself) is an extra expense. You either pay for SLC or extra adhesive...so ok there is a labour price to factor in for laying the slc but then it is a harder process to tile over cables with adhesive alone so I reckon it all balances out.

I dictated the price as he has put work my way, not just on his house but hes got me a few other jobs from his friends. But now i know tiling on this system is a bit more aggro than tiling on a self leveled floor so i think i will let him do it.

Edit...Well said Sir Ramic totally agree !

At the end of the day Tony , if you are not happy at doing it , then yes decline the job.. you are the one who has to be happy at the method and you are the one offering a guarantee as a pro tradesman..

We've not mentined type of tiles yet? (not that it makes much difference).

Its stone of some sort isn't it ??

or £7 b&q's by any chance?

If you do it in 1 day + halfday grouting & cleaning, then yes, if its a good deal for you, then I'd entertain it, ** IF ** I can SLC it 1st.

If definately no SLC, then its not worth the risk. No way.
