hey guys. got a question, when tiling a full room, walls and floor, which should be tiled first the floor or the walls? or does it matter and if so why?:8:

walls first, floors last, if anything its because walls tend to have white or lighter grouts than floors so if you do the floor first and grout with grey when you do the walls you will inevitably drop grout onto your lovely floor and cause light patches to your grout, also you might drop a tile onto your floor and chip something, get your walls out of the way, all shining and clean and then do the floor.

:thumbsup::thumbsup:

agree with diamond here i tend to do walls first unless they are to line up with the floor then it's floor first and dustsheets or cardboard to cover them!

any reason the walls are matched to the floors and not the other way round? hope thats not a daft question:8:

if the room isn't running square then it's easier to match the walls to the floor rather than the other way around and helps make the cuts at either side of the room the same

also if the walls have nibs and boxings, by doing the floor first, you have a plan view to work ou your wall tiling from. I, personally, nearly always do floors first as that way I can hide the perimeter expansion gap under the bottom course of wall tiles. It really is a personable choice tho':thumbsup:

I prefer to do the floors first, as i like the bottom row of wall tiles to sit on top of the floor tiles, with an expansion gap of course. I just think it looks neater this way rather then the floor tiles cut into the wall tiles( Personal preference ) then i could do the walls first and leave out the bottom row of wall tiles, then the floor and then put in the bootom row of wall tiles, but all that cutting in one go(boring and slow)
But i do always grout the wall tiles first, so as not to drop the wall grout on the floor grout, but if you do the floors first cover them up well and protect...:incazzato:

Like some of the others here I try to do the floors first. If I can't, then its walls first leave of the botom row of tiles and grout up. Tile the floor and then bang in the last row of the wall. For me this is best as it hides the expansion joint under the first row of tiles. Every one has their own way of doing things for different reasons.:lol:

allways walls first leave bottom row out tile floor leave expansion and cover with cuts or tiles to the floor, unless you need to line the walls with the floor then its easier to do floor first:thumbsup:
