Help! we bought some beautiful white bianco marble tiles with grey veins running through them. No instructions supplied but employed reputable tiler, used white adhesive (although it was brown when mixed) and sealed after 48 hours. The tiles are obviously porous because they darkened for 24 hours after fixing probably from the water in the adhesive but this faded away as they dried. However after sealing they have discoloured. The floor tiles are fine but the wall tiles have got brown smudges and the veins have bled. What can we do?! We haven't grouted yet-is there any way of getting rid of discoloration before we do? What has caused it? we wondered if excessive sealant might have caused the adhesive to seep in? If we can't fix it are the manufacturers liable for not providing us with instructions? Any help/advice would be appreciated!

Hello and welcome...

What substrate are the wall tiles onto..?

Which sealer have you used..?

And have you any pics..?

could do with some pics really.....maybe the plaster/surface dust has bled when wet from adhesive..?

were the walls primed.?

Hard to say without seeing them...so pics would be good..

What sealer is it ??

Bianco doesnt bleed unless its tumbled

Thanks for replying! The adhesive was Granfix flexible white-white powder and light brown when mixed with water and then dried white. The sealant was Liberon natural stone sealant. Your comment about the plaster has started alarm bells as the floor tiles haven't discoloured only the wall tiles. The wall was plastered a week before tiling and no, it wasn't primed/sealed. Should it have been? The problem started immediately after sealing-if it is the water seeping through from plaster should we try to remove sealant to allow it to escape? Haven't grouted yet. Will get pics!

Ok

Doubt its your plaster or your adhesive liberon stone sealer is generaly for darker porous stone.

Your stone is marble and not very porous, all surplus sealer should be wiped off the stone surface after around 10mins penitration, Liberon stone sealer is based on linseed oil.

IMO I would say thers your problem................................

Cheap is not always best:mad2:
