Iv been taught to glue cement board then screw it, but lately made friends with a couple of tilers and they just screw it? What do the proper tilers do?

The only time I just screwed backerbaoards down was while in Australia back in 2002. I always use tile adhesive or the special glue provided.
I always glue and screw. However, Hardie say the adhesive is to fill voids (ie in cupped s/w t&g) but I've previously asked the question 'why glue when you're overboarding perfectly flat chipboard' and I've yet to get an answer from them.
I don't like your tillers :incazzato:The tilers that I know that just screw say if you make the floor before the cement board stable enough it shouldn't make a difference, and that they are just using it as a simple replacement for ply which they wouldn't glue.

no no i thought you was a plumb :smilewinkgrin:i genuinely think that as the hardi is a brittle type material (especially 6mm), its not only a good idea to glue even if the floor is perfectly flat but it is a standard thing... especially in my book.... the tea bag book that is
