Who's Number One Really?

There is a bit of confusion over who takes the 'number one' position in the Tiling forums game so I thought I'd just make it clear for those that care (I'm not that fussed personally).

I installed each of the three forums and know each of them very well. Those three being tilersforums.com, tileforums.com and uktilers.co.uk/tilers-forum/

Over the last few months we've been talked about on the other forums more than ever and I feel the Admins and Mods on those forums are not really showing it all in a fair manor so here's a little inside information and some fair comparisons.

How do you work out who is Number One?

I'd say the number one forum is the one that's used the most and is has the most active members, although there is such a big time difference between the created date of them all I divide the total members or total active members between the days it has been online.

tileforums.com has 2562 members and has been online since 20th Feb 2004 which to today is 1368 days (approx) so that's 1.873 members per day that sign-up.

tilersforums.com has 1275 members and has been online since 30th March 2006 which to today is 539 days (approx) so that's 2.365 members per day.

uktilers.co.uk/tilers-forum/ has 324 users and has been online longer than tilersforums.com too (from 5th April 2005) but the Admin there does erase the 'no post' and 'low post' members as soon as they appear inactive. But even if you doubled the member figure you're still looking at less then both the above sites.

Each of the forums have loyal members but if you divide the total POSTS between the members you get to see which has the most active members.

tileforums.com's 2562 members that have posted 41787 posts between them so that's 16 each.

tilersforums.com's 1275 members that have posted 20415 posts between them so that's also 16 each.

uktilers.co.uk/tilers-forum/ has 95 each as they clean up their member database regularly. Plus it does seem as though most of their topics get robbed by humour and just tend to go off on one in random directions.

Our forum certainly gets the most Hits due to out gallery system and arcade although that's probably not a fair comparison.

On a daily basis we have an average of 97 members currently logging in each day and tileforums.com has 47!!!!!! WOW - I'd have expected much more than us if they were number one to be honest.

How isn't it worked out?

Alexa traffic rank gives more 'weight' to older sites. So as we're a year old obviously we don't rank in the top 250,000. Some mroe on Alexa traffic ranking system....

General voting on the said forum would be totally unfair as clearly their members would be the only ones voting (something it seems uktilers.co.uk/tilers-forum/ has done).

Just assuming you're number one doesn't work either as per tileforums.com.

Some advantages of our forum!

Our forum isn't bias towards any certain supplier, training establishment or member. The other two run their won courses and tool companies. Anybody can sponsor our forum and get banners on our site.

We have a gallery for all members to use.

You have me running it, the guy that installed each of the forums above, and the guy that got the top two of them going, and the guy that DOES ADMIN THE UK's NUMBER ONE FORUM DENOTED BY FACTS AND FIGURES AND PROOF! tilersforums.com !

I'll add to this as I collate more statistics. But we really do rock in many areas.

tileforums.com's 41787 posts have been made over 1368 days so that's 30.55 per day.

tilersforums.com's 20415 posts have been made over 539 days so that's 37.89 per day.

Now I don't want you thinking I'm bitter. It's just we seem to be knocked down on other forums and actually we're most likely to be labeled with the Number One position.

I'd prefer the term not to be used at all as the simple fact that we're the Only Independent tiling forum means a lot to me and that's enough for me to be honest.

I don't usually compare directly like this but it really does have to be pointed out to these guys who claim the position after a few pints or whatever.

And I'd never knock any other forum. Each to their own, clearly there are enough members for us all to be busy and get the information we need.

I actually like all forums and still speak to many of the members that make them what they are. And that's the thing, it's the members not the Admins and Mods that make a forum what it is.

And all of us are yet to beat similar stats I've built about the John Bridge ceramic Tiling Forum in the USA, which just has to be put down to Magic or something paranormal. Heil John Bridge! 😀

I don't really want to start an argument to be fair, I just hate finding out we're being put down. It's just a bloody forum lol.

Just looked on the other 2 forums.

One had 5 guests and no members currently online in the forum, and the other has only 33 users in the last 24 hours.

This forum always has over 30, often way over that in the last 30 mins max.

This forum seems to have the most activity by a long way going by them stats.
