mines a Y reg Scudo. It can be a catch 22 at times.... customers can think if you pull up in a brand new(ish) van "he must charge a lot to be able to afford that" or..."He can't be very good if all he can afford is that old banger".
As others have said, a clean and tidy van, whatever age projects an image of professionalism.

My Renault Master is tidy, 43k miles on a 55 plate. I reckon it's good for another few years but I'm actually considering putting a private plate on it. I have noticed customers checking it out sometimes and I do wonder what image your van portrays.

Its all about appearances and first impressions - Turn up with an 09 plated van, filthy dirty and a big rusty dent in the rear doors and the dash full of old cans and *** packets going back to the day to was registered and you know what I would think.
On the other hand, turn up with a 52 plate van clean tidy and looking good - open the doors and its all layed out in a neat organised way - That will secure my positive first impression / every time.

When i was a 16 year old lad i had a mk2 astra 1.4 which i built up using a Gte 16v so it was basically a Gte but 1.4 shell. I used too get tad jelouse off some lads running about in brand new saxo Vtrs. Until my nan said Dont worry about them 'your car is owned by you. Theres is owned by the bank (finance) I still think off that too this day.

I swear this is true. I was working in a house in Glasgow today and when the rain started heavily one of the neighbours ran out with some washing up liquid and a sponge and gave their car a quick once over and left it for the rain to rinse it off. I'm back there tomorrow so I'll check if it's been effective.
