Working part-time

Hello all

I've been finding it very difficult to generate leads/work since starting out in tiling last summer. So I decided to start applying for part time and casual work locally. I've got a trial day tomorrow working on an estate, which if successful would mean regular hours working from 08:00-13:00 monday to friday (And guaranteed earnings of course).

I think this could be ideal as it will leave my afternoons and weekends free for any tiling but, Just wondering if you think potential tiling customers would be happy with me only being able to work for them after 13:00 during the week. And should I be honest and up front when qouting for a job about this or just turn up on day one in the afternoon.

I've done this before; turning up and starting late due to other work committments and even working alternate days sometimes. It may mean you have to work until 6pm or 7pm to get a decent amount done and some people may not want this. Depends completely on the customer; some will be fine, others a little off. I think def better to be up front about it.

Well it's got to that point were I have to do something. I've noticed that a lot of gardening firms seem to be looking for extra hands at the moment, sometimes just 2/3 days a week. Nothing to do with tiling but quite a nice way to earn a few quid through the summer and leaves a few days free for your tiling...And I guess laying laying a patio and pointing are close relations of tiling and grouting. Just an idea if you do start looking Steve...try 'Gumtree'

Same as, be up front but as again has already been said some customers don't want you there at 6-7 oclock in the evening.

No harm in trying and see how it goes.

you will have to be honest with them at the first meeting and its their choice wether they want you to price or not

Yeah I guess honesty is the best policy, especially if I want to build a good reputation.
