I know it is going against the flow but hay ho with work the way it is I would probably take it on as long as the client understood I would not take responsibility for work I did not fix and a stipulation that expansion joints be left at the appropriate intervals and filled with Silicon

Good move Phil for not taking it on.
The fact that you had to ask meant you had doubts and you really know your stuff, so those kinda jobs just aren't worth it.
You can be certain it would fail (for whatever reason) and you'd be up to your neck in grief!
