IvegotsTILE

I turned up to tile a bathroom floor today,I'd offered to get all materials for them at cost but they said they'd get them.Fair enough I gave them a DETAILED list of the items I needed.
Turned up today and they had 6mm ply not 12.
Couldn't believe it.Where's the grout?where's the spacers?Wheres the primer?
"Oh I forgot them!"
"Where's the adhesive?"
"Oh I have that, its just over there."
"Where?"
She picked up a TIN!"Here it is!"

:whatchutalkingabout It was only a bloody tin of some sort of wood glue:mad2:

"Why didn't you get 12mm like I said?"
"Sales assistant said this will be alright for tiling on(Jewsons).:mad2: :stupid:

What stupid things have customers asked you to tile with?

woman on the radio once said she stuck her tiles on with 'pastry'! still stuck ten years on! DON"T EAT HER PIES!!!

I've heard alot of people in my area have put down floor tiles on laminate with Silicon!

When I've asked some guys jokingly if they'd ever done that a few did say YES!:whatchutalkingabout

i took my brother once to grout for me wiliest i finished the tiling there was only a bit of grout left so i told him not to add to much water i went outside and he was tipping flour in with the grout i asked him what he was doing he said He'd put to much water in the grout and was trying to make it thicker he honestly thought this would work:mad2:

See, we are back to pastry again

Hey how many times have you been asked by the customer if you can bang some more adi on to level a wall that a plasterer has had a go at and said " that will do a tiler"

I once met a man who claimed, among other things, to be a tiler. One of the other things he claimed was that Silicon was much superior as ADHESIVE than regular cement based addy... I asked him what he based that assertion on, and he replied, smugly I might add, that he'd seen "Silicon being used to set tiles with in public bath houses", and that "they used it to grout as well"......

I told him "dude, you're thinking of epoxy; it's not the same thing", but he was adamant. He even called me ignorant :mad2:

my father in law stuck his floor tiles down with silicon i must admit they have been stuck down for 2 years now

Swe you are probably right for thinking he was crazy after all Adamant was sent down to the mental hospital eventually.

Some tilers around here use Silicon when they are forced to replace individual tiles, because they're too lazy to mix proper adhesive. Sure, the tile will remain stuck if it's not disturbed too much, but lemme tell you; tiles set with Silicon come off REAL easy when you're called in to do the ensuing insurance job.

I'm terribly sorry, but I only understood the "Swe you are probably right for thinking he was crazy" part 🙂

A tile company once asked me to lay a yellow antique reclaimed terracotta floor for them.
Problem was that it was really red and they had just painted it yellow.
The paint was running out of the bottom of crate and I still had to grout it and wash with water which would have revealed it in all its ruby glory.

Luckily client saw his drive turning yellow and realide something was amiss!.

My mother once put kitchen tiles on with Bero flour and mixed with sugar,i think the house fell down but the wall with tiles on stayed up...
