Shower Tile Repair - Tile Waterproofing in Brownstown MI. Schluter wet room conversion 24h flood test done by Tile Marble Granite Oct 1st 2023 in Huron Charter Township, MI, USA for a customer of mine that needed help with an old school water damaged shower that was leaking down to the basement. Shower tile repair was successful and 100% waterproofed.

I have been doing these wet room conversions for several years in UK and US. ''The waterproofing technology dates back from ancient times. Romans used to waterproof their saunas/baths/swimming pools 2000 years ago. In fact, there are still Roman baths in existence throughout Europe dating the Roman era. They hold in the water just as brand new. These are all interesting facts worth researching!''

Just catching up on some old threads. Thanks for posting this.

Do you know what the Romans used to waterproof their areas? I would be interested to learn more.

There's a lot of material available online regarding ancient waterproofing techniques. A good start would be to Google the term Opus Signinum aka cocciopesto technique.
There are other waterproofing Methodes used throughout the history from clay, natural resin and fats, soap-oil mix to volcano ash, seawater and lime etc. Bitumen was used throughout the world to waterproof buildings, showers etc. California still uses bitumen to waterproof showers. Just Google Hot Mop Shower Pans

''Ancient Rome took waterproofing to a new level. They used opus signinum, a mixture of lime, sand and crushed pottery, to waterproof their impressive aqueducts, cisterns and thermal baths.''

Next time when you pour down some concrete, 24h later coat the concrete with latex SBR, several layers would help. That SBR will penetrate the concrete, the whole surface will become waterproof 100%
