poor quality mosaic

I have a downstairs loo to tile in glass mosaic which has been supplied by the customer,they would like me to tile the ceiling which i set out first in order to tile it then i can drop the walls down and keep it all square, lots of cutting involved so I laid the sheets out on the kitchen floor so i could pre cut the mosaic before tiling the ceiling
I was surprised to find that the sheets were so far out of square that i cant use them, my apprentice and i then went through 20 boxes of Original Style tortoise shell mosaic and found 6 boxes to be so bad that we have asked the customer to return them to the shop and get replacements has any one else found this with this brand? the mosaic is mesh backed 20mm x 20mm on 300x 300 sheets

Not used them Gary.. Sounds like a poor batch.. Do original style buy in from outsource suppliers..?

i use mosaic's all the time gary,and have used original style a lot ,i find that there are lots of makes that on first inspection look ok but are really bad, i tend to square them up as i work with them!! you have to or you will end up re-jecting everything mate, if they are mesh backed set them in the addy and the moisture from it will make the mesh relax then you can move them with the straight edge of your trowel!! hope this help's you mate

Thanks gooner, I would normally square up the mosaic and often do with paper faced but beleive me some sheets are 10mm out of sq the jobs hard enough as it is without having to straighten up 60 sheets of mosaic i have some pictures i will resize them and add them when i charge my camera

Sounds like a nice one there Gary, i have a big bathroom to tackle next week and there is bad looking mosaics in there too but luckily only 5 mt2 of them among some banana shaped ceramics,lol.
