Anyone got any views on the Ardex tanking kits, using one this week for the first time, reading through it looks to be a 2 part mix and 2nd coat after 30 mins,is this correct?
Is the scrim tape stuck down with the solution or is it double sided, and last one does it need priming prior to applying?

What's their tanking kit actually called? I'll find you a PDF on it.

Found it.

5 step guide: [DLMURL]http://www.ardex.co.uk/pdfs/wpc_guide.pdf[/DLMURL]

Tech data sheet: broken link removed

1. Ensure that you have the appropriate tools andsufficient ARDEX WPC to cover the intended area.
For coverage information refer to the technical data
overleaf. The surface to be tiled must be dry, rigid, of
sufficient strength and free from dust, grease, dirt, etc.
Apply at temperatures above 5°C

2. Mix a small amount of ARDEX WPC
to a slump free consistency for filling
holes, gaps, joints etc. For application by spatula, pallet
knife or towel, mix approximately 1.75kg ARDEX WPC
liquid with 2.5kg ARDEX WPC powder per m2
at 3mm
thickness, i.e 4.25kg of Mix No.1 per m2
at 3mm.
The working time is approximately 45 minutes at 20°C.

3. Reinforce joints that tend to crack with the ARDEX
self adhesive mesh scrim. Apply the mixed ARDEX
WPC (MIX No.1) with a spatula, pallet knife or trowel to
seal joints in corners and fill holes and gaps around pipes,
etc. N.B. The mesh scrim should be applied prior to the
application of Mix No.1.

4. Mix approximately 0.75kg ARDEX WPC
liquid with 0.75kg ARDEX WPC powder
per m2
at 0.8mm thickness to obtain a flowing consistency.
Apply this Mix No.2 evenly with a brush or paint roller to
cover the surface with a uniform coat. A second coat
should be applied approximately 1 hour after the first to
obtain an effective waterproof protection layer of at least
0.8mm thickness. ARDEX WPC will dry to a dark brown
flexible coating

5. Ceramic tiles etc, can be fixed onto the second coat
of ARDEX WPC after approximately 2 hours

Thanks Dan,seems like a bit of extra work compared to easy to use BAL and Weber one's though, having said that it's tileable after only 2 hrs.

Swings and roundabouts mate.

Has this one been specified or bought already or something?

Used one today, dead easy, scrim is sticky, tape the joints, kit comes with liquid and powder.

Mix a bit of each together in a small tub into a paste, fill gaps between boards, then just spread thinly over tape with a scraper.

Mix up some more into a paint consistency and roll onto walls twice.

Dead easy.

Took about half and hour to do taping, filling and to get first coat on.

Well used it today,Have to say wasn't impressed with it ,scrim tape was about as sticky as a wet plaster and looks a bit amatuerish compared with other brands, not a patch on the Weber one IMO,won't use one out of choice again.
Probably ok for a shower only 1 day job though.

The tape was plenty sticky in mine,

Still got a bit of the gum stuck to the hairs on my arm though from 'pasting' the tape.

I hadnt used one before, I won it at the last CTD trade day.

That's what iv used in my own bathroom, only time iv used it however but I liked it. Simple install, I like that u mix it thick for filling holes and joints etc then like a paint. Found it easy to put my faith in anyway wich I dnt with other paint ons
Always a membrane for me!
