It has been requested for backer board to be used and fixed around pipework and toilet cistern so that my ceramic tiles may be fitted. Is this advised and the preferred substrate for this?
such as wedi/board, marmox, and so on, can anybody prob( AJAX ) tell me the purpose of the mesh and polimer/cement coating on boath sides of the board please :thumbsup:

We have a split concrete/floorboard area. For our Travertine floor should we use Hardy backer board OR Ply (width?).
Oh, and just to confuse things does the new concrete area (extension) need some kind of thermal board...

Hi,
need some advice, as I'm getting a bit of conflicting advice.
I have a half concrete, half floorboard area of approx 46m2. Do I use hardy backer board (6mm) OR ply (9mm) as a base to prevent hairline cracks across the join ??
What do you pro's think?
PS We are using electric underfloor...

I am using Mapei Keraquick flexible adhesive to apply tiles in my bathroom.
Prior to this I am going to fix hardie backer board to a solid wall. Can I use the same adhesive to bond the backer board to the brick (together with permanent fixings)?

have used this loads of times on chipboard but have a small floarboarded bathroom - can i still use it with some fastflex underneath to bed in - i dont want the floor height to change much :yikes:
i need to put backer board on a Hardwall plastered wall but have no room for battens! Question is can i dot and dab the board to this type of surface. only using small ceramic tiles so weight is not really an issue. Also it's in a bathroom.
