Hi,
I would like to find a detail to give the best lighting effect for bathroom dropped ceiling shadow (led strip) lighting , any suggestions welcome? See attached. The detail in attached seems to a lot in terms of the drop or spacing of the edge of the dropped ceiling from the wall. Thanks
Hi guys. I'm back after a terrible few years with my partners health. She is improving slowly. Got a neck aching job to do. I would like to know what trowel and adhesive you guys would use to lay 6"x 6" porcelain tiles on the ceiling. I was thinking a 4 mm notched trowel with a rapid set flex...
My other half has found some bathroom wall tiles for our future refit and I wanted to know if Sunset, Canada and HD Mimeo are decent tile brands/manufacturers or if they are a bit ropey?
As the bathroom is quite small, my usual plasterer is not interested in boarding and skim the ceiling. I...
Planning to tank my en-suite tomorrow, using the BAL WP1 waterproofing kit. The ceiling is existing painted plasterboard. Do I need to tape and treat the joints between wall and ceiling like I do for the corners?
My gut says no, as the WP1 can't be painted on etc after. Presumably if I don't...
I’ve made some slight measurement errors and ended up with a relatively large joint/gap between the top of my Hardiebacker board and the ceiling (see pic). The joint is 12mm at its widest.
With the other walls, the joint was much smaller (~2-4mm) so I’ve been able to caulk those, but I’m not...
I’m just about to install 12.5mm Hardiebacker boards in my 3-wall en suite shower and I’m just wonder how I should fill and seal the joints with the existing ceiling (believe it is just plasterboard and painted).
What should I use for filler? Tile adhesive and then tape the joints as normal...
I am a reasonably competent DIY tiler having fitted out kitchens, showers, toilets etc for my three daughters (and myself when they give me time!) but in all my projects gravity has been my friend. For a change I am gutting a shower / toilet in my own 200 year old house where the walls are up to...
evening chaps,
what do you prefer at wall / ceiling abutment joint ?
grout
Silicon seal
caulk seal
'nothing' just a shadow gap i.e. no grout / sealant
personally I like #4 - as long as the cuts are within 1mm tolerance of each other.
Can you give me advice please? My tilers have almost finished tiling my bathroom but looks like the last row of tiles have been cut short by about 1/2” and then patched in. What is the best solution, remove and do properly I guess! They tell me once they’re finished I won’t notice..ha of...

Have a bathroom to tile in a barn conversion we are currently doing.
The bath has a ceiling mounted shower head and the skeiling slopes away along the length of the bath.
the skeiling has been prepped with OSB with 12mm taped Jackoboard on top...
What's your method? I have always cut tight to the ceiling and grouted. I've seen a few pics where it looks like some have siliconed to ceiling, who does that?
Hi all
My large format beige tiles are on the wall.
My suite and cladded ceiling are white and I'm ready to grout with Mapei jasmine grout.
I intend to use matching jasmine Silicon on internals with clear (dow) Silicon around silverware.
However I would like to get some opinions / preferences...
Hello everyone,
I have to tile a walk-in shower cubicle and the adjoining wash room. The clients would like to tile the ceiling in the shower cubicle but have been advised against it as it is "not deemed safe". I have been tiling just over one year and haven't the experience to give them my...
Small fully tiled bathroom (2mx1.6m). 60x30 tiles.
Got the top row of tiles to put on and facing a dilemma! What is going to be the best way of tackling please?
The ceiling is wavy! (it varies by up to a centimetre). I will probably get it skimmed at some point to level.
The dilemma:
Option...

We have been having this problem since we moved in to our house 2 years ago.
We noticed water coming through our kitchen light in our kitchen one day. We got a plumber round and he identified some loose tiles in our shower cubicle. We replaced the loose tiles and the problem resolved...

Got a shop wall and overhang to tile Tuesday which is shaped like an upside down L. Tiles are hexagon 8mm ceramics 150x150. What's the best adhesive to fix tiles with? I suppose it's just like tiling the top of a window reveal but on a larger scale. It's all been clad in plasterboard ready to go...
