Hi All,
Having recently found lots of water dripping down under my bath I managed to locate the problem to a small hole in the grout. I had a quick rummage in the loft and found some old BAL micromax grout which I was pleased to find was still a nice powder after 7 years. It mixed up nicely...
Good Evening,
I installed 12x24 wall tile in my shower remodel. I realize now that I should have used a 1/2 x 1/2 trowel, but used a 1/4"x1/4" trowel. I back buttered and troweled each tile as well as the wall. I pullled up tiles every so often and always had good coverage of the back. The tiles...
Hi
i am looking for a shower tray under tile seal, a few years ago I found one that the tile sat in a channel on the seal with the up stand behind the tile and the flexi seal part below, does any one know if they still do anything like this anymore ?

I like DIY projects. Figured I'd try my hand at removing cracked grout in my shower and replace it with caulk. To remove the old grout I used a oscillating tool with diamond edged grout remover. The end result is severely scratched floor tile. Is there any way to remove the scratches short of...
Hello,
Just joined the forum and am hoping to get some advice on a project. I live in San Diego, CA. My wife and I have been unhappy with our master bath walk-in shower floor since we bought the house 25 years ago. We do not like the aesthetics and the floor always looks dirty. For the last 10...
Hello,
Just joined the forum and am hoping to get some advice on a project. I live in San Diego, CA - hope this is OK (just noticed you are UK based). My wife and I have been unhappy with our master bath walk-in shower floor since we bought the house 25 years ago. We do not like the...
I noticed a chip in the Travertine shower sill. It is about 1.5" long and 1/8" at the highest point. This sill overhangs the shower threshold about 3/4". What can be used to repair this? Would I need to use Travertine filler? If so what kind and how should it be done.
Thanks
My tiler split on me and left the shower walls half tiled. More importantly, they left a lumpy bumpy surface after installing backer board and RedGuard waterproofing.
See the pics for a brief visual backstory---
The job was to remove the bottom 3 rows of tiles around my tub that were cracked...
Hello and thanks for your time.
When the shower metal frame (that will hold the glass wall) is placed plumb along the tiled wall, you can see that the tiled wall is uneven. The top and bottom touches the tile wall but in the middle there is a huge 2cm gap between the metal and wall. Basically...
I am considering purchasing the Wedi system for a shower renovation.
The current shower setup uses an electric shower and the new shower renovation will also use an electric shower.
The current electric cable runs from the studs, through the tile backer board, through the tile and then into...
My bathroom was tiled 5 years ago with 60x30 tiles which became loose and came clean off with a little wiggle. The installation was prior to when I moved in. The walls look sound and flat and seemed to have been newly plastered before the tiling was done.
My question is what do I need to seal...
I'm installing 4x12 white ceramic subway tile in my shower and going from the shower base up to the ceiling. Seeing I'm going to the ceiling I wanted to break up the look of the tile by putting a boarder somewhere in the center of my shower. The Home Depot website said you can use Mosaic tile...
Has anyone ever used CTI for sticking tiles to a wall.
I'm new to tiling and want to install a shower with metro tiles onto a skimmed wall. I did try Mapri Keraquick Wall & Floor Rapid-set tile adhesive, but my lack of skill and experience means that I'm making quite a mess. I'm thinking that I...
Hello,
So I have a small shower tray that has 4 upstands and the tiles placed on top. The gap between the shower tray and top of the tile is about 1cm.
I've noticed at the bottom tile that if I push it I see slight movement. My worry is that water is getting behind and slowly working its way...
Hello, this is my first post on here, probably one of many I am sure!
I am looking for some advice on an issue we are facing with our shower enclosures tiling in a circa 1890s mid terrace house.
We recently moved into a house that had recently been refurbished, and fitted with freestanding...
I am in the process of building a couple of stud walls to create a shower cubicle. Built from 4"x2" studs they will be covered in backing board and tanked/waterproofed before tiling.
The third wall in the cubicle already exists and is constructed of MR plasterboard on 6" studs and then...
I bought Faulty Towers last June. I have done a fix on my shower floor tiles. It has lasted for a couple of months but is now failing again.
The problem is mosaic tiles coming off. I tried siliconing them to the adhesive base then a bit of grout in the gaps. So, that doesn’t work.
Is there a...
Hi
I'm looking for some opinions on Silicon colours for my new bathroom, I'm getting close to finishing it and unsure of what colour Silicon to use. I have limestone (ultra tile) grout and marble affect porcelain. Should I use 1) limestone Silicon on the internal vertical corners, and white...
I am doing a shower tile installation on mold-resistant drywall and I am waterproofing with redguard. The drywall comes down and sits on the shower edge/lip, and the tile will go over the lip and down to the base of the shower. All looks great except one of the studs was a little bowed and one...
I need to tile a new corner shower stall. I put Hardi waterproof backer board on the wall and used thinset to seal all my seams and screws, also used thinset for my transition seam between the drywall and backer board. I used a setting joint compound (not a pre mix drywall compound) to feather...
