Morning all,
Basically, timber joists, heated in between, customer been advised to use Hardiebacker straight onto joists with Ditra on top.
My question is, has anyone done this? I’m thinking the HBB would suck the adhesive dry quicker? Should the board be primed?
Thanks in advance,
Good morning guys and gals,
Went to look at a job at the weekend. Hallway in a victorian house.
15m2. Floorboards down at present. Big skirting boards present too.
The owners want to replace the floorboards with 10mm Hardiebacker board with Ditra matting on top. They tell me Mr Hardie...
Hello, finally got around to getting my floor down, I've used 6mm hardiebacker on top of a new 18mm plywood sub floor.
Now I know the idea behind sticking the boards down with adhesive is to eliminate any unlevel/air gaps under the boards, however this floor is brand new and the bathrooms so...
Hello,
I’ll start by saying I’m not a pro. Im a DIYer but value doing things the right way.
I’m doing our bathroom, removing all the blown plaster and cleaning up the walls before using [insert appropriate tile backer board here], tanking the joints and tiling onto these.
I was going to use...
well after years of trying to convince one of the builders I do work for he’s finally ditched the plywood and is now using Hardiebacker boards. He’s now a convert and is going to use them wherever tiling is required. I showed him in a small bathroom today how to glue and screw them, I could have...
Hi there - so i have ripped up the old tiles and old layer of ply and cork. Replaced with 12mm hardiebacker screwed in along with a layer of adhesive between the backer and the floor. There is some discrepancy of maybe 5mm between aome of the boards. Do i need to start again? Im using flexible...

Hi,
I am replacing a tiled floor and will need to overlay with 6mm backer board. This is on top of 15mm ply over wet UFH in dry screed.
I need a backer board with the highest k-value (lowest R-value). So far from the data sheet 6mm hardiebacker has a k-value of 0.19W/mK. Does anyone know...

Morning all. Just a couple questions.
1. For ANYONE who has installed hardiebacker. Do you leave the 3mm gap in the corner of wall then fill with adhesive and fibatape or butt up close to the other wall when installing hardiebacker in corners?
or
2. I recently purchased hardiebacker. While...
We now have several videos demonstrating installation, cutting techniques and tips which I am in the process of uploading on this forum.
Both our 6mm and 12mm boards are very strong and durable. Sometimes we hear they are difficult to cut. This is normally due to using a utility knife. As the...
Hi
I'm a DIYer, done a few tiling jobs and don't think I'm all that bad at it. Just started refurbing my bathroom and have used Hardiebacker.
Generally no issues but being a DIYer I'm a bit slow. I've bought a slow curing cement based adhesive for this reason, to ensure that I don't waste much...
Hey all, got rid of manky old ply and steel studs. Now I have a couple questions, do I need to bead the corner if i'm tiling? I know you bead it if you are plastering, so i'm just wondering what to do. Also, do I need to prime the hardiebacker before applying Aquadenfese liquid membrane?
Any help...

I hope this stuff is worth the hype as it is a bas*ard to fit onto rough 1930's walls that are back to brick. manufacturer doesn't comment on this precise scenario , merely says install using cartridge grab adhesive and mechanical fixings(screws and plugs) Well ,that won't work on the walls in...
