Guys n gals
Have been asked to tile a 1st floor room with 900x150 porcelain wood effect tiles.
The sub floor is new floor boards as it is part of an extension which seem very solid with no noticeable deflection.
I am intending on laying 6mm Hardiebacker boards prior to tiling. Is this the...
One of my suppliers is going over from stocking Hardie to NMP
So I am in the process of looking up info on NMP and comparing the two if that is possible.
Now most people are aware of the fact that you have to be careful when cutting Hardie as regards the dust when cutting the boards. But there...
Got a job soon where customer has bought Dragon boards from tile store , tile store says its like hardiebacker ?
Anyone used it ?

Having never done it, can you guys advise on a rough step by step guide for fixing marmox or hardie to different kinds of wall.
For studded and skimmed walls and for brick walls both plastered and not plastered. Need to know about the gluing and screwing for both instances.
Thanks in advance.

Hi all,
I'm new to the forum so please forgive any silly questions, I've taken on rather a big DIY job so some expert guidance would be appreciated on occasion.
I recently noticed our tiles cracking
in both our adjacent upstairs bathrooms. After taking these up I found that the original...

Would you overboard a timber floor with HB250 that has 6mm cork tiles fitted on top, without taking the cork tiles up?
ie creating a cork sandwich.
Seems a shame to create more work than is necessary.
First solo job this week... It's a small kitchen extension (6m2) that the customer wants tiling in 450x450 unglazed porcelain tiles (8mm thick). The subfloor is plywood over wooden joists (1 3/4 x 5 3/4). The current floor over that is chipboard then some green fibre underlay and...

Is plasterboard easier to work with than Hardiebacker?
I know Hardiebacker can support more weight for tiles than plasterboard, and can be fixed to walls in a siliar fashion to plasterboard, and Hardiebacker doesn't need priming (and more expensive than plasterboard).
How do you fix...
Hi,
I'm after some advice on preparing the walls and floor of a bathroom for tiling. I want waterproof boards around the shower, and I'm currently going with Marmox. First question is on the stiffness of the Marmox boards: are 12.5mm boards really OK to go straight onto stud walls? There won't...

Hi All,
The bathroom is still coming along and despite loads of life issues slowing it down it's going well.
I discovered that installing 10mm Warmup insulations board would make my life easier in terms of installing the probe as opposed to digging through the already installed 6mm Hardi that...
Can someone tell me whats the difference-if there is one- between these two? also which one do people recommend and also I need to put one of these on my bathroom floor before i tile what thickness is recommended and how are they installed.
P.S im a DIYer but can do most jobs and not a beginner...
Hi,
I went to look at a job today, and the homeowner is a keen DIYer. He has been renovating the bathroom. Old tiles removed which were stuck directly on chipboard and hardibacker screwed down. 6mm board over a particularly lumpy floor from the old adhesive, but board not stuck down at all...

Hi All,
What is the best way of fixing into Hardibacker (12mm) Do you use rawlplugs etc. or a hollow wall fixing? The Hardi is screwed to studwork and is now tiled.
All I need to fix is the rail for the shower, the water is fed from the digital controller in the loft through the rail and then...
