Hi All someone has asked me about laying rigid high density insulation direct on a concrete floor and then tiling on top of this does anyone have any experiance of this .
Regards Andy

My question is if I bond boards to the sand and cement...
Any preferences anyone on Insulating board? There seem to be plenty of options (Varme / Wedi and many others) I can only get away with 6mm, due to floor heights - which is best value for thermal efficiency / price? What do you stick it down to concrete with? I will be removing the existing lino...

Hiya,

I have been asked to install 450x450mm porcelain and electric UFH on a wooden bathroom floor.
In order to minimise any increase in the finished floor level I'm intending to remove the existing chipboard flooring and relay using 25mm WBP ply and then lay the UFH and tiles straight on...
Hi. Got to tile my parents kitchen/ utility room as part of a building project for them. I do quite a bit of tiling as part of my general building work but never used insulation board yet. Just wondering if anyone has used THERM-A-MAT insulation board available from E-bay shop at £3.99 a sheet...
Anyone got any views on the the fastwarm insulation boards.
They are certainly cheaper than wedi/dukka/marmox etcc but dont have the cement backing on both sides.
Have used a few times on top of screed before laying electric mats but not sure whether ok on top of plywood.
