Just a general question as ive got the same one on TTA at the mo
Do you have rules and standards in regard to glass (all one sheet not tiles) splash backs in relation to gas cookers
as they must have a non combustible surface behind glass or stainless steel and does this imply to glass tiles

hi, my kitchen floor tile grout is looking a bit dull.
I've gone over the whole floor with a stiff brush and mixture of soap, bleach and water and its brought it all up nice and bright, apart from around the oven and hob where it is still dull.
I think its from oil splashes etc as the...

I am going to attempt a small tiling job myself in the bathroom of bath and basin splashbacks, plus shower splashbacks. Any recommended materials to use for a novice women tiler - or advice? Thanks peeps xx
Are larger tiles easier to work with, anyone recommend the best tile cutter?

Hi,
I'm new to the forum.
We recently hired a Tiler who I got in touch with through another forum and he has done a poor job.
What happened was we were quoted £*** by one company to do the splash-back in our newly fitted kitchen, I asked on this other forum in tiling section how much it...

Got to remove some tiles from kitchen splash back...tiles are on plasterboard, which is dot and dabbed to wall. Removing tiles is removing plasterboard also. Ok to cut out plasterboard and replace just in the splashback area?
Cheers
Hi All,
After a bit of help, I'm trying to work out the best way to lay the tile trim around the splash back I'm doing on a window. I'm using this trim .
I'm tiling up to the bottom of the wall cabinets (one is flush to the window) so I've layed the tile trim down the side of the window/the...

Look pretty decent, I've never seen these before. A bit expensive in my opinion.
Anyone ever used them ? I imagine the pro's may laugh at them, but may be good for the tiling novice ?

Members,
I'm retiling the splash area of a shower. A shower mixer joint started leaking very slowly, so tiles and plaster had to be removed to rectify the leaking joint. The joint seems fine now, and the wall has been replastered and had over 6 weeks to dry.
I'm not planning on retiling the...

Hi,
I need to tile behind the hob. Given that there will be a lot of oil spits and the like, would porcelain be likely to stain?
Would an impregnator sealer be enough to stop potential problems?
Thanks...

Hi all,
Time for some pay back for all the advice.
Here is the DIY job I am doing. I have cleaned up the kitchen here ready to start. I have the gas man coming wed to connect the hob next week and I am in desperate need of a sink so the primary objective is to focus on getting at least the...

We decided after seeing a picture in a brochure to have full walls tiled around the bath, but just a backsplash over the basin.
Using bevelled edge brick tiles in half bond (right term?) the two walls worked out fine, but i've just realised i don't know how to finish the edge of backsplash...

Just wondering what the best grout would be for a kitchen splashback. Would i need one with Microban or an epoxy grout? or will just a standard grout do?

Hi there, I'm renovating my kitchen on a budget and have just removed the tiles from behind the kitchen work surfaces and around the windows. My plan is to re tile it myself. The tiles were only four high. I was dreading the damage, but 90% of the tiles came off without a fight. There were a few...
Hi,
I'm looking for an experienced tiler for a kitchen job.
I have 4.25 sq mtr of floor which I would like laying with 400x400 12 mm limestone. I also have 2.5 sq mtr of splashback which I would like laying with 150x75 12mm travertine.
It's a big ask but I would like this work to take...
