Halfway through my extension - running into loads of problems.
Current one - I have installed a set of folding sliding doors. I want the kitchen floor tiles to run flush with the door sill and also with our hallway floor. Unfortunately the difference in levels is 40mm. The distance is...
I've just been to quote a floor job for a customer which is on two different levels, the majority of the floor is floorboards overlaid with 18mm ply covering 11.5m2. Then there is a further 5.5m2 which is concrete. This means to get the floor level i need to bring the concrete up 18mm :mad2:.
Is...

Just digested or at least partly digested that mammoth thread by Tile boy.
One thing that was mentioned was levels and their accuracy. Levels going out seem to be an occupational hazard. I'm a great believer in checking the level on a line by turning the level around and seeing if it gives the...

hi first post. im an amateur tiler want to lay tiles on a concrete floor adding underfloor heating which requires a 10mm insulation board. this will raise the floor level by approx 25mm with the tiles laid. At the moment the concrete is flush with the adjacent rooms wood floor so i will be left...
Im after a new laser level but not sure which ones are best to get. Ive got one with the tripod but wont work at a low level and not self leveling. I want something easy to use for around 100 quid. Ive seen the ones that are on a pole are these any good? Any advice much appreciated.
Has any one got one of these laser levels? Do you think its any good for the price or is it better to get a more expensive one that will probably be more accurate?http://www.transtools.co.uk/store/prod_827/levels-and-measures/laser-levels/pro-3-in-1-self-levelling-laser-level-kit.html
What is the best technique for checking levels for a floor?
Is it to place a block of wood on the floor to represent the thickness of your tile and bed.Place a straight edge on the block (or on the surface of an adjacent floor if that is what you are working from).
Pack up the other end of...

Just got a wet room job where the client has supplied all the materials. The floor is being removed and re-plyed with 18 mm ply. The customer is using warmup installation board and the tanking kit is the Impey system. They also want underfloor heating. One of my concerns is this will raise...
