Hi,
I'm looking for a bit of advice to help me salvage a DIY glass mosaic tile installation. I've done a bit of standard format wall and floor tiling in the past and always achieved a fairly decent enough finish to be satisfied with it so I have braved a glass mosaic in our new kitchen...
Hi all, just had a new bath fitted. Took out the old one and had to remove one course of tiles around the bath as the new bath was taller. (see picture attached). I am going to tile the 150mm gap with these glass mosaic tiles Botella Indian Peacock Mosaic Tile | Topps Tiles -...
Looking for a bit of advice on what size of trowel to use for a mosaic laid on the floor. The individual tiles are 50mm square, and porcelain (if that has any bearing on it). The floor is perfectly flat, although it is plywood. I lifted the original floorboards, braced all the joists (450mm...
Hi all
I plan on using a 300mm wide strip of mosaic (the kind on a webbing backing), half way up the wall. It occurs to me that the tiles above may compress them and everything might slip and become misaligned. Is this a concert and if so, how can I address the issue?
Thank you
Embarking on large scale project, Have previously made mosaics using reverse method, sticking tesserae onto brown paper using wallpaper paste, then sand in gaps, ring of steel round the mosaic and concrete. When solid, turning it over, washing off paper and sand from gaps and grouting. Now...
Hi all. Is there a knack to minimise adhesive coming through the gaps between small mosaic tiles when applying them to the wall?
I’ve done my first one of this size and I’ll end up spending more time, with a trowel, scraping out adhesive between the cut lines than I will doing the rest of the...
Never had this happen before. Customer ordered mosaic tile. Traditional black and white checkerboard with 1" tiles. They are very thin, but packing says "for floors and walls". Mesh on back is quite dense. The mesh is bonding with the Mapei adhesive, but once dry, the tiles pop off! We have...
Hi all
About to tile kitchen backsplash with these tiles
https://veronagroup.co.uk/g30200
They are sheets of 30 x 30cm mosaic - I know that the bagged adhesive is the best - but I find it messy too so would rather go for a tub for these small format tiles
Just wondering on thoughts on a...
We have some Victorian-style mosaic tiles which we need laid on our front path. They are on mesh-backed sheets so no need to lay individual tiles. Each sheet is 30cm x 30cm. There is a concrete base in place, but this has a crack in it so would need to be levelled beforehand. The whole area...
My wife would like the shower cubicle (2 walls inside a quadrant enclosure) tiled with porcelain tiles but with a central vertical strip of glass mosaics.
Is there an adhesive that would be appropriate for both?
The substrate is waterproof cement boards (Abacus elements brand) with all joints...
Good Evening,
Kicking myself here, I’ve recently fitted some mosaic travertine tiles around the bath and sink area, and sealed the area around the bath with a water based penetrating sealer.
I did a test patch first and the colour enhancement was none to minimal, so felt happy to crack on...
Hi all, enthusiastic newbie here. Plan is to tile a 300 wide vertical strip of 10mmT stone mosaic, where a shower tower will be placed on top.
I’ve worked out so far that I ought to use BAL mosaic fix with a 4mm notched trowel and firmly bash the tiles in as evenly as poss.
The problem as I see...
Hi All,
I’m a newbie both to this site and tiling.
I’ve recently moved to Zambia, the materials here are inferior and the availability is poor.
I’m doing a bathroom using mosaic, marble and natural stone.
I know I need to seal prior to grouting, but the only sealer I can find is TFC Silicon...
Hi all,
After some advice. I’m tiling a 4m floor in 1 inch hexagon mosaics. The floor is green chipboard which is pretty secure but I would always use ditramat 25 on it prior to fixing but Schlüter have said not to fix anything under 50mm on to ditra 25. Anyone had the same issue? It’s not the...
