Hi all.
I'm re-fitting a downstairs toilet and utility room. When I pulled out the old concealed cistern, I could see that it has been leaking for some time (about 1 drip a second, so quite badly). The cement floor under the cistern was sopping wet, and moisture had soaked a good 12 inches up...
Hi,
Help needed please.
We have just had a kitchen extension built. It is going to be tiled. My question is - is it advisable to get the wall plastered before we tile it or is it better just to tile striaght onto the plasterboard?
If it's better to get the wall plastered, how long do you...

Hi All,
I'm very new to this so probably a very silly question. I have stripped the tiles off my bathroom wall. The finishing plaster has come off too and whilst the undercoat is flat enough to tile on I was wondering whether I need to skim the wall with finishing plaster
Thanks
Rowan
i am having my kitchen skimmed over, but the plaster is very rough is that ok to skim over or should we plaster it first then skim , or put plaster boards up then skim.
Hi All,
I'm in the middle of installing a corner shower in my downstairs cloakroom. I was hoping to tile the shower area but I've found some areas of wall plaster cracked and blown. The walls are internal 100mm aerated block (Thermalite type) with sand & cement render, finished with plaster...
Folks,
Stripped by bathroom and now that it is all bare, I am in the process of getting my head around the order I need to get things done, and the approach.
Specifically in the shower area, I have removed the plasterboard from the stud work on one wall, and plan to replace with 10 or 12mm...

Hi y'all, I know this is a big no no but what is the exact reason behind the wisdom. Is it a chemical thing or a strength thing or just what precisely ? My prospective client is assured by the plasterer that it is ok as he has done it loads of times before but I want / need the job and don't...
I'm looking to rip out an old bathroom suite shortly and re-tile from floor to ceiling. I'm now unsure on how to proceed with the tiling because the existing walls are old plaster which was painted with some kind of silk or possibly even gloss paint. The bath area also has 2-3 layers of tiles...

All I have ever been told about lime is that you can't paint on top of it, not with anything else but lime anyhow, it would throw it off.
Now I have just been asked by a mosaic friend if it is possible to mosaic onto old lime plaster walls (external) - over to you - any ideas?
i posted a few times on the above thread this morning. after being out this afternoon i got a few emails saying there s more posts to the thread but its an invalid link. has the thread been stopped? i guess a few tilers would have been a bit peeved to hear some of the comments made. i would have...

This has probably been covered loads of times, but apologises as to some of us it is all new and very basic.
Remove old tiles, quite effectivley, with little damage to the wall by myself, only to find that the builders had left the plaster board damaged in the centre of the wall, understand the...
Hey I am having my bathroom plasterd. On 3 of the walls the plasterer is skiming over the old plaster as it is firm. On the other wall he is dot and dabing some plasterboard on to skim over. How long will this plaster skim need to dry before I tile on to it. I could do to tile it as soon as...
