Hi there,
My first post! I've been following the forum a while at a distance! a great resource
Im renovating my bathroom (2mx2m floor) and I've got a question about SLC. The entire first floor of the house isn't level, it dips into the middle of the house and in the bathroom this means there...
Hi all, been browsing through the forum trying to find a definitive answer. I'm in the process of qouting for a 33m2 floor. The floor is not ready yet, but it will be 22mm wbp plywood primed on all surface and then down directly on to the joists, noggins will be added and bricks built up under...
Hi all. Newbie here so please go easy :)
I've not laid self levelling compound before but am a confident DIY'er so would like to give it a crack.... just trying to do as much research as possible before hand...

ive been asked today can I tile over decking in a garden which will be ply boarded first ? Very odd I thought but if anyone has any advice etc it would be very much appreciated . Cheers
Hi everyone, newbie here, have had previous tiling experience and decided to give it another go, although this time self-employed. Have recently taken a crash course to scratch up on skills and give myself a better foundation of knowledge, cannot wait to get started.
I’m still a little...

Hey folks, ive just laid 12mm Marine ply on my bathroom floor in preparation for tilling, its screwed down on 200mm grid formation then i primed the ply with SBR bond as i have done in the past. Today i mixed up sovereign tile adhesive and glanced at the instructions which stated i was to prime...
Hi, im trying to sort some ply to do a job over xmas but my timber merchants have only got a pine ply in 12mm and over available before xmas. This is WBP but obviously not a hardwood version. Is this still ok to use or am i likely to run into problems.
Thanks for any advice in advance.
Existing floor covering is 18mm T&G floorboards.
If you had to replace some floor joists, and to re level some floor joists, would you:
1. bin all the floorboards that have to get removed to fix the floor. replace the floorboards with 25mm wbp ply and tile directly onto that.
or
2. bin all...

ive overboarded t&g floorboards with 12m wbp ply before, however ive never used hardie backer board.
I was going to use hardie backer board this time.
18mm T&G existing floorboards.
glue the HB down with rapid set flexi powdered adhesive and screw down with 25mm stainless steel screws...
Tiling onto Ply - OK - just seen the other thread and it's 'No you can't'.
Is there no product I can put down to firm up the surface to make it right for tiling?
Or shall I just give up????
I know there is flexible adhesive (or special 'onto wood' adhesive and grout).. is it still impossible...
We will be tiling 3 bathrooms in a grade 2 listed building next month. Two of them are upstairs and have rather uneven old floorboards. As those boards are part of the "historic fabric" I cannot damage them with adhesive of any kind so I have to overboard them, again without adhesive. I think...

Hi guys,
OK, I know you shouldn't tile onto ply if avoided, in bathrooms especially, but..
Got a job to do a small amount of tiling behind the end of a 'free standing' bath and a sink/toilet below window height. The builders/plumber that prepped the area used ply to box the area. I am going to...
We're in the middle of tiling the whole ground floor, hubby is not a pro but is capable lol well .... Because the front door entrance there was an issue with the level of the floor , to make it level we tried levelling stuff, but there was another problem with the entrance , anyway it was...
What do you guys find is the best way to remove dried cement based adhesive off ply? I have a grinder and a Fein. The adhesive is around 4-5mm thick in places. Replacing the ply isnt an option unfortunately. its only 2.5m2.
Cheers

Hello
I am a DIYer and after a successful shower tile project set about tiling bathroom floor. Victorian terraced house, previous floor - exposed original floorboards. After research and consultation with a carpenter, I understood that the deflection wasn't bad and that I should screw down any...
IM sure its been asked many times, i've always plyed floors 12mm and tiled over but recently i noticed a lot of people using hardiebacker for all areas. i have used hardiebacker to replace wall plasterboard in bath shower areas, i have a kitchen floor to replace which has cracked all over due to...
So, i have a conservatory to tile with 200 x900 porc with wet ufh and 22mm ply on top. The ply is deflection free but i don't like tiling on it. Would ideally backer board it but worried about insulation properties. So, the plan is ditra. Is this the route you guys would go?
cheers
Bin doin some reading after speaking to a builder I do some work for and it's got me thinking has anyone got any info on osb being used for overboard floors to fit ditra to as osb comes in tongue and groove so in theory the joints are much stronger than a ply join ?
has anyone used this stuff , rather than hardi backer board for floors ?
Rather than use thinset it comes with its own adhesive in a silicon tube , also comes with a lifetime guarentee
Tiles merchants near me has started stocking it so wonder if it's any good ?
Thanks
