How much do tilers charge? What's the price per Square Meter?

Okay so I'm going to start the ball rolling. I'd like the forum to be handy for all, including those looking for tilers, or even DIY, to see what they're up against compared to a professionally carried-out job. So let's get this ball rolling. Let's try and come up with a base rate for tiling...

    1st Square Hole

Thought I'd share my 1st square hole I did in this ceramic tile.. I'm rather pleased it didn't crack on me. Used a 16mm 365 diamond bit in each if the corners and then a carbide bladed jigsaw to cut out the waste tile. Lastly filed down the excess. It ain't perfect but the accessory would...

Looking for New Old Stock 4.25" square tiles

Good Morning World, I am looking for some bathroom tiles. Our bathroom was tiled to a height of five feet or so, thirty years ago, in thin square tiles, 4.25 inches / 107mm, and the handbasin, lavatory cistern and radiator mounted on top of them, so there's no going back. But we now have a...

Basket weave square or double herringbone

I've a rectangular room of 37m2 to tile using 100x15 wooden floor effect porcelain tiles, which are of great quality ! I tiled the landing and hallway in a brick bond pattern, and was wanting to do something different for the client as they've given me pretty much all tiling decisions and...

    Square notched trowels on floors

Over the last few weeks I've been called out to replace singular floor tiles in a few bathrooms and kitchens. From looking at the dried adhesive patterns, after the loose/cracked tile was removed, they look as though they have been laid using a square notched trowel dagger than a u notched...

    Square metres

For the first time in my short tiling career I decided to keep tabs on how many metres I've tiled this year, a grand total of 1179 which is about 25 per week (taking off the 4 weeks holiday I've had this year), and I'm pretty happy with that. Does anyone else keep track of how many metres the fit?

    An out of square room

Hi guys (and gals). I'm going to have a go at tiling a 3sq m wc room floor. My issue is that I want to try and have the tiles symmetrical (as far as possible) but the room is far from square. There is about a 5cm difference in width between one end and the other. This is probably a silly...

Morning all! Had one of those middle of the night brainwaves last night that has got me thinking. Tiling to out of square wall

Probably an obvious question but I am currently laying some 50mm mesh backed mosaics and am now coming up to the last wall which is out of square slightly on the right as pictured. Round or square notch trowel?

From what I can gather from this very helpful forum, to fit 10mm thick mosaics, I need a 4mm trowel. It seems that to get a solid bed, you need a rounded notch trowel or is that on the larger sizes? Most of the 4mm trowels seem to be square notched. Thanks in advance.
