From what I can gather from this very helpful forum, to fit 10mm thick mosaics, I need a 4mm trowel.
It seems that to get a solid bed, you need a rounded notch trowel or is that on the larger sizes? Most of the 4mm trowels seem to be square notched.
Thanks in advance.
With tiles getting bigger and bigger (some large format porcelain tiles are now 800mm x 800mm) then how do you ensure
a perfect fit for a plug socket, electrical socket or other item.
Some installers grind out from the back of the tile. We hope to show you a neat little trick.

Arrived at customers house this morning to find dots of lipstick on the tiles I set the previous day. Apparently the customer want’s the tiles changed because the tiles do not have sharp enough corners.
The tiles are Topps 30x30 honed and filled travertine @ £1.60 a tile.

Hi all,
Bit stuck on getting the right pattern for tiling my kitchen walls. I've chosen the tiles finally and they are a slatey effect in 4 colours. I loved the mosaics but were too expensive! Anyway so the tiles don't look boring I thought about getting the tiler to set them in a brick layout...

Hi There,
I'm after a specialist tradesman to replace a defective mosiac tiled wetroom floor in an apartment I own in central Manchester.
It is a very small wetroom in a listed building, measuring approximately 1m wide by 3.5m in width. The existing floor membrane has failed enabling water...

Hi,
I am replacing the plasterboard in my bathroom prior to retiling with 600 x 300 ceramic wall tiles, can I use square edge plasterboard butted up together on the basis that the tiles will cover the joint or tapered edge plasterboard taped and the joint plastered?
All the best
JP
Can anyone advise what is the recommended grout width on 60 x 60 ceramic floor tiles with square edges laid on a concrete floor. My wife says she doesn´t want them grouting and that they should just " butt up " but i feel sure that you must have grout to finish off. Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi Just went back to check on tiler - who wasn't there and there was a gap running up the corners - the tiles fit snuggly at the bottom but as it goes up the wall the gap gets bigger is there a way round this as thin slithers of the glass tile is gong to be very tricky surely?
Too late now for lectures!
I need at least 10 of these, would take more if available.
They are annoyingly 7 3/4 inch, or 1.98mm square so difficult to match size these days.
motif and frieze (which I have spares of) are coded CAV5 and CAV6 Andorra
Positioning will be discreet so a close...
I'm about to start a job replacing damaged and chipped 1m2 tiles and I'm a little concerned as I don't want it to get silly. I'm worried about replacing one if all tiles surrounding it are already fixed. I plan on dot and dabbing it and hope fully pressing it down into place but what if there's...
I'm usually an articulate chap but as soon as I try and explain something on here I'm always at a total loss and end up talking goolies. So sorry about the title but does anyone know what I mean? I think the three way mitres look okay but I have seen preformed ends that can slide into the trim...
Hi,
I have measured from the kickerboard to opposite wall(in two places) it is out by approx 2cm. Should I make a parallel line from the wall? Or will this cause the tiles to look off near to the kickerboard.
Have also tried from wall to wall, at it is slightly out as well. The kickerboard...

A customer asked me recently, 'how many m2 do you think you have fitted since you started tiling?' I tried to work it out and came to the conclusion that it was somewhere in the region of about 5000 m2 ( roughly 1000 per year on average since tiling full time). So, any ideas how many m2 you've...
We received a quote to do a lot of tiling , at "£** per square metre"- labout only, we supply tiles, adhesive, grout etc.
Having received the invoice, and noted the square meterage given by area is more than the actual meterage of the TILED area we challenged the invoice, and asked to show us...
We are tiling 200 rooms to a new hotel in the west end of London.
We have started tiling the floors and in some rooms the new walls are out of square. Not just at right angles but to the opposite walls making the rooms like a squashed box shape. setting out points are from the front...
