Hi all, I posted last night about whether I need to use a tile backer on top of the 18mm chipboard flooring I have down in my bathroom. The answer was yes.
The question is now, what is the best tile backer to use?
If you didn't see my previous post, I have removed the old floorboards...

Hello all,
I'm about to buy the boards I need for the kitchen and bathroom tiling, but I'm not 100% which ones to opt for, any advice would be very gratefully received!
Firstly the bathroom. The wall tiles we're using are marble and too heavy to go directly onto the existing plaster skim...

I would like to install electric underfloor heating in my bathroom. The floor is timber and would like to know what is the minimum depth I could use on top of the boards. marmot make 6mm and 10mm. I was looking at using 10mm Marmox board. Is this deep enough?
Thanks
Hi All,
Having now been convinced of the need to board out my 18msq hall (see "to board or not to board" on a previous thread), I am now wading through trying to decide what to use.
There are quite a few products on the market - currently the most pushed seems to be hardibacker, but whether...

Hi all, as you can see I'm new to the forum but a competent DIYer so I hope these are sensible questions. I am removing a bath with a tiled surround and replacing with a walk-in shower from Merlyn. I am building a stud wall to be one wall of the shower. I will be using HardiBacker 500 for the...

I've got four 6mm tile backer boards which I assumed would have been No More Ply but for some reason the tile shop I ordered from sent another brand.
I'm not really bothered about that but what I would like to know is which side I should tile to. The other side will be face down on the floor on...

Has anyone used this, I seen it on vista tiling for £10.50 for 1.2m2, its self adhesive, can be cut with scissors, comes in 600x500mm sections and claims it can be stuck straight onto floating chipboard floors etc. This would cut down on lugging 8x4 sheets of ply around. Is it to could to be...

After the storming success opf my first question... what a great response!
My new shower is currently mostly stud partition, with no board yet.
I was going to use a tile backer board straight onto the studs, cos it's easy, and gives a good flat surface to tile onto.
There are a number of...
