Hello, I.ve just joined and need advice and guidance please;
How do you hang 40x20x12mm limestone on a plastered plasterboard wall?
I think it is too heavy - should I line the wall with plywood and hang on that instead?
If so, what is the best thickness of ply to use?
Many thanks
Ok so we know tile weight limits on plaster is 20kg per sqm... or is it????
I've had a 'conversation' with someone about weight limits on plaster which made me look up data sheets to back me up. What i've found has left me unsure.
The formula i've worked to is
Tile + Adhesive should be = or...
I seem to remember seeing a guide to weight restrictions according to the material being tiled- I can't seem to find it. I know people refer to restrictions on plaster a lot but what about plywood. Are the weight limits different on a plywood wall to plasterboard?
I have read all through the Homelux site but cannot find any mention of weight restrictions at all for their waterproof matting system.
As they do not reply to any of my emails does anyone know what the restrictions are?
I have travertine wall tiles to put up. The substrate will be...

Hello guys,
If you're presented with a job that has significantly uneven plastered walls and you're using porcelain (or any other heavy tile), how do fix them without exceeding the 20kgm2 weight limit? I'm familiar with BAL and Mapei thick bed adhesives, however I'm assuming these wouldn't be...
I have read on forum before that plaster board can take 32kilos per m2 and skimmed walls can take i think it was 25 k per m2 ,just of a matter of intrest what can dot and dabbed plaster board take.oh and i forgot to mention is it best not to use tubed gear to dot and dab with.
Could anyone help me with a guesstimate of the weight of a glazed porcelain tile 600 x 400 x 10.8mm of Spanish manufacture? I think it will be too heavy to fix onto plastered bathroom walls.

Hi All,
Just a quick question about how much floor tiles can hold in weight.
I am tiling my bathroom floor with standard 10mm ceramic tiles (300mm x 300mm). I will also be installing a stand alone cast iron column radiator that measures 30cm x 30cm x 50cm. The radiator stands on four legs...
Hi all
I know the weight limits for normal plasterboard, either 32kpm2 (or 20kpm2 if skimmed) but does anyone know the stats for the thermaline stuff?
I'm doing a bathroom using 610x610 filled and polished travertine, and the walls were lined in thermaline. I told the customer that I couldn't...
Can I use 10mm thick, 1" by 1" stone mosaic tiles on a part cement rendered part plastered solid wall? Weight of tiles is about 24kg per sqm plus grout & adhesive of 3 kg or so. The wall will form part of a shower cubicle and will be prepared with BAL WP1. Many thanks, Phil
A customer is looking at using 600 x 900 x 12mm porcelain on walls of a new extension. Weight of tile is 14.22 Kg each that equates to about 26.5 Kg/m2.
What is the limit that various substrates can cope with?
Looking at breeze block walls for some of the area that may have first coat of plaster...
