80m2 Travertine

Hi Guy's,

Need some advice reguarding the fitting of 80m2 (Trav) with UFH. I was going to have the UFH layed and then a 6mm bed of SLC, The customer wants the tiles 600x600 set in a dimond pattern so will place expantion joints accordingly.

Now here is the thing, do I use Ditra Matting and if so how do I do It (never used it before).

Thanks.

I would definately use ditra or Durabase as promoted by Wetdecs. With UFH and such soft tiles it would be a real benefit.

You would/should be laying insulating board first, then lay the heat mat. Skim with SLC or rapidset and let dry. Lay ditra/durabase over skim and then tile as normal. If you are putting in expansion joints, you will need to carry these through to the Ditra.

Hi m8 On to concrete ????

I would lay Durabase CI matting (like didra) on flexi adhesive, then your heating with a leveler then tiles on flexi adhesive.

It straight forward to lay using a 4mm trowel lay a bed and roll out the CI mat pressing into the adhesive as you go.

DATA SHEET DURABASE CI MAT

Have a look at the sheet, any questions please shout

Thanks grumps

Roughly how much would this cost for 80m2 and how long would it take to lay the matting.

Ok guy's thanks for the info. that said, 600 quid plus 2 days labour to fit this system so we will call it £1000 extra.

Is this a must to fit this or would SLC over the top of the UFH and expansion joints every 5m be enough.

Apologies guy's if you think I am questioning you're knowledge and experience.

Thanks.

To keep an 80m2 Trav floor that is peanuts my friend if it decides to split it will cost you the room.

As grumpy said above

I would deffo recommend an un-coupling/isolation membrane with travertine....all the time......better to be safe than sorry.......
