i still dont understand whats the difference is single file or 2 abreast it doesnt matter as when you are overtaking you should be on the otherside of the road not tring to sneak past while still in the same lane, plenty room i do it when i am in my van.
i have also explained why the are not cycling tight in,,,

on a country lane, the other side of the road would be the hedge, so bycyclist should ride single file for there own safety, or a car coming in the opposite direction, round a blind bend will hit you....can you not see that...????

yeah i can see that. but judging by that statement a car or a motorcycle or a pedestrian would have the same problem.
and also if there is no room on this road a van or car should be waiting to get past at a safe bit rather squeezing past pushing cyclist into hedge,or worse wall or fence. as they have as many rights as you, by law.....

i live in the country spend more time behind dithering drivers and tractors than i do bikes..
