Went out the other day to continue tiling for a floor i had alreeady completed as paart of a large development in a kitchen but the want it to flow in to another room.

I had suggested my friend would do the slc requred but they insisted his rate was far to expensive and there handyman jack of all trades would do it for them. Ok then i reluctantly agreed.

Anyway i turned up to do the job to find the screed that was put down was cracking everywher and in some points was just completly detatched from the subfloor, so I tryed to explain to the customer at which point she realy flung her toys out the pram and covered her ears so she couldn't hear me.

Finally when she recovered herself I did explain the situation and told her under no circumstances would i be tiling on that!!

she said NO i just want them down!! WTF

Me - if you put them down three willbe up in a week

her- ohh ive had enouugh of this

Me - Staired a cieling in disbelief then n finaly managed to convince her on a course of action.

people don't understand whats required.

I'm tiling my brothers bath room and i was telling him the walls need finishing plaster over the bonding, needs drying out then primed. He was saying why why why why?

All i want is tiles up on the wall.

I replied if i'm not doin it right i'm not doing it at all.I'm not gony risk a tile falling off the wall and hitting anyone of you 3.

People don't understand the technical aspect of things

i explained to my brother that i would need to ply his bathroom floor before tiling etc but he insisted i just went straight onto the nailed down chipboard! after explaining they will probs all be lifting up and grout cracking in no time atall he still wanted me to go ahead, so i did :joker:

quite suprisingly tho its been fine and no problems atall, tho i have left him a bag of grout for when it does fail

thats the last of doing cheap jobs for people, either they have it done properly or not atall, dont want people coming back to me in a couple of years cos somethings gone wrong
