Dave one thing talktalk did do which pee'd me off is they uncoulped my number from the exchange and put it on their servers, which means I can't move to anybody other than BT. I looked at moving my number to either O2 or Sky a few years back when they did upset me and that's when I found out I would have to take my number back to BT and then move it back out to someone else a year later.

I was going to really kick off about it because i'm sure they never notified me when they did it and the consequences but they gave me half price deal for half of my 18 month contract so just left it and took the offer.

So if you're looking at BT you'll be fine but you may have a problem if you're looking at other providers too.

i had the same problem with talk talk, i spoke to about a dozen different indian call centre operators each telling me they will sort it out,getting me to do various changes to the router settings because the problem was intermittant i didnt know if it was sorted till the next day when the connection was dropped again. i eventually insisted on a call back from their supervisor and on complaining i got a new router. problem solved.

Some peeps on the talk talk forum have said that anew router works but not long after it starts again..


Anyway in the mean time i have been on BT site online chat help with Carlos and he has deffo confirmed that my exchange will give me 20mbps + on fibre optic... so i have a better choice to go to..

anyone use infinity as well.. any probs.?

I got talktalk. I find the internet unreliable during the day. It is cheap though. I pay something like £15 a month for broadband and all local phone calls including line rental. The downside on the phone though is thatit makes it difficult to swap out of the talk talk system. I get maybe 1meg download speed here but i am gong to invest in a bt i plate to try and speed it up a bit.
