When I first joined this site, I questioned whether mixing pro and amateur advise in the same place was a good idea! This thread has proved to me it is,as there is clear distinction between those who know their stuff and those who have no idea.
Seems some have given up on being educated and continue with there incorrect methods!

firm im doing work recently replaced over 600 tiles in a store because of bad fixing methods, got another store in taunton to do, again because of poor prep and fixing method

I love the threads where people ask advise, then totally ignore it asking the same questions and not wanting to hear the correct way of doing the job!
Its not even about how much a job costs or how much effort. I've seen posts saving the person time, effort and money, but still want to do it their way, most amusing.
It is a credit to the lads here that are very patient and polite.

My local tile supplier sells notched trowels for spreading my adhesive. I've don't ever recall ladles on sale in there.
