Thin strips of gaffa tape will hold any bits down that stick up or a hot melt glue gun..........

Porcellanato is the hardest form of porcelain tiles grade 5.......it's like bell metal..........it is made to mimic marble/slate etc etc..........and mostly has a non-slip type finish..........

Dave,

Is it fired longer then or at a higher temperature?

Kev

Fired at a higher temp...something like 1275 dgs if my memory serves me right.........give or take a few dgs kev.......

I'm not actually laying the UFH myself and the floor has laminate over it at the moment so don't know what its like underneath. Do you think I should advise him to deff put a screed of SLC ontop of the wires to save on adhesive? I need to price this job up but not sure how much adhesive I would need. Cheers gang!

Porcellanatos - just spoke to the guy and he spelt it out for me so nice one peeps! He's now asked me to give him a quote for doing the SLC! ...... Oh well...in for a penny!

If there's laminate flooring already laid probably screeded underneath, Yes I would use slc to make it easier when laying tile's.

Cheers whitebeam mate...... 365 I have a set of your drill bits which you kindly sold me at the KBB show for a bargain price:grin:

Sibs i can recomend the Mapei 2 part self leveller. Very nice to use. You want a leveller that flows nicely as this will make the task a lot easier.
I hate it when someone else lays the heating mat as they never get it flat, so i have to adjust it.
Also if the mat is laid make sure they dont walk on it before you get there to level otherwise it could be damaged.

Thanks SirRamic. I was gonna look at Ardex but now I will deff have a look at mapei. Will bear in mind what you say about the matting if I get the job. He is gonna test it once it has been layed.

They are easy enough to test and it would be worth you getting a small multimeter for your tool box. You really need to check it often. I have never had a problem with a mat yet though ( fingers crossed)
