i never get involved in this sort of stuff, it makes me sick,i would not even buy a bottle for any firms owners, they pay me for the work thats good enough IMO

This sort of thing is common place in the building industry. I do the jobs I have to in order to get the jobs I want. I was working on a block of apartments last year and the contractor was doing a favour for the QS so I did the favour for the contractor and as if by magic the next big house was mine and not one of my invoices was questioned, funny that.

been offered quite a few over the years. Usually cash for recomendations sort of thing. I frown on it and am proud to say I have never compromised myself by accepting.

hey we all know the stories , the so called big local shop had two young ladies working behind the counter ,so i guy i know takes them drinks ,bottles at a time in turn for them to give out his card , he gets all the work from that shop ,till one day he called me in to help with a big job ,ok i said no prob ,i started in bathroom one him in a dif one ,by 12.00 that day the customer came in to me a said please come look at his work ,well i know wot his work is like ,didnt have to look , i felt so out of place when they told him to go and me to stay ,but wot could i do ,the customer was that upset with wot he had done they went straight in to the shop to see the manager , he came out to see wot was going on ,and boy was he ****ed off that the girls had recommend him to them ,he gave them the tiles and the add to say sorry ,but as for the two girls ,never did see them again

I know a guy who is a top manager in a massive van rental business. He does a lot of favours but the most he will accept as a 'gift' is sausage and chips so , as you say Whitebeam, he is not beholding to anyone.
