BAL Adhesives - are they worth it?

Same here was taught whole tile to the highest part of the ceiling peg down half way level line around room work down from the line ,if there was any reason you didnt have a whole tile to the ceiling my old boss would want to know why and he ruled by fear.

We had to do balanced cuts top to bottom and side to side the only time you was alouwed to deviate from this was if that ment you had a bad cut on the bath or if the window was off set then the window had to have balanced cuts. I used the method of tiling down from the datum line from about 1989 until a few years a go it ment You could put your cuts in as you go and get the room finished we did two bathrooms per day back then so you did things eficiantly.

Do the same method with small tiles - level line a few tiles up and tile down. Do this on every wall then do the tops. Far faster method than cutting in the bottom row and working up. Only start at the bottom with large format. A good quality SPF will hang without slipping all day long.

Can get 20m bathroom walls done in a day using this method.

tile down from datum then above, centre walls,windows doorway. Eye level is the one that really matters. Bal was the one and only in my early days

anyone remember the old bal wall adhesive, that came in a blue tub, and was like lumpy wall paper paste...

First Bal tub adhesive I would use was called Bal Tad tiles would always slide this came in narrow tall tubs,some old named adhesive which are not around anymore were Richerfix and Cerafix they to was a nightmare to use.

My dad remembers Bal Tad, it was all sand and cement before and they all said adhesive would never catch on!!!
I started in the '80's and all you needed was Bal Wall and the original ammonia smelling Bal Grip, never primed anything and it always stuck!

The Bal primer in them days was highly inflammable one tiler was using it in a kitchen and the boiler came on it produced a flash over burning his hair ,if you dropped any on a plastic bath it marked it we just used it to burn the boxes.
