We had to do balanced cuts top to bottom and side to side the only time you was alouwed to deviate from this was if that ment you had a bad cut on the bath or if the window was off set then the window had to have balanced cuts. I used the method of tiling down from the datum line from about 1989 until a few years a go it ment You could put your cuts in as you go and get the room finished we did two bathrooms per day back then so you did things eficiantly.

Do the same method with small tiles - level line a few tiles up and tile down. Do this on every wall then do the tops. Far faster method than cutting in the bottom row and working up. Only start at the bottom with large format. A good quality SPF will hang without slipping all day long.

Can get 20m bathroom walls done in a day using this method.
