like most pro's on here, I can't say a bad word about the quality of bal adhesive, however I don't think I'd win many jobs if I included it in my quotes, just toooooo expensive.

Discuss BAL Adhesives - are they worth it? in the British & UK Tiling Forum area at TilersForums.com.
I can tell you with confidence Dunlop is produced at the BAL factory I have watched it being bagged up. I’m not sure what part Norcros plays but BAL is owned by ARDEXBal and Dunlop are part of the Norcros group, compare the phone number for the Tech department and it's the same.
Anyway there is a massive difference in price.
Looms line i was wrong about the norcross connection, i'm sure a few years ago they was a mention of it. Anyway ta for pointing that out lads.
Anyway the fact is i find no differance between Dunlop and Bal products other than a large price margin, so i tend to use Dunlop which saves everyone a bit of dosh.
It is interesting to find out I was doing it wrong for 20 years as up until the tile formats got so big and I swapped from tabbed adhesive to powdered adhesive I set out and fixed all my tiling from the middle of the wall, then worked down to the floor and then worked from the middle up. The adhesive we used allowed us to hang the tiles so this was the most efficient way of tiling. Most powdered adhesives do not have enough body to hang the large format tiles so now I work a different way. But it is most defiantly not a silly way of doing things.
Basically only rapidset adhesives will allow you to hang tiles half-way up the wall. I can guarantee that with Topps or BAL rapidset I can hang any tile on the wall and it will not move a mm. You don't even need to back-butter the tile.
Try this with slow-set adhesive and it will all end in tears though as some of the doubters have described!! I don't know why but rapidset adhesive just has loads more grip from the off than the slow set stuff.
