Right, here's the latest situation.

I have now run my border round and decided to see how the mosaics look on the sink shelf. They look very nice. However, I don't have enough of them. Also, as you know, my shelf is wonky.

I've tried putting the mosaics flush with the wall:

9894826-a68

and that's only a 3-tile drop

9894829-f82

Bringing them level with the shelf edge does this would leave a wall at the back of the tiles and therefore a space between back of mosaics on shelf and tiles on wall

9894830-b80

I figure I have a few options:

a) I could just do a strip of mosaics going down from the full flat vertical tile on the middle of the wall, but unfortunately that's not central to the sink.

b) I could have a big chunk of mosaics overlapping the right and central tile but being in the centre of the sink, but still having cut-off tiles each side of it.

c) I could use all of the mosaics on the horizontal of the shelf but use normal tiles on the vertical (bear in mind, I've no mosaic nippers and have never cut glass mosaics, so not sure how well I'd be able to make the triangular bit work.

d) Something else?

At the risk of chucking you another curve ball:smilewinkgrin: What colour grout are you going to use? I see that the shelf is above a sink which will get all sorts placed on it, toothpaste and brushes, soap, make-up etc. etc.

I would use a field tile on the shelf purely because it will leave less exposed grout making it easier to clean and last much longer

No make up. Soap is left on the sink. Would only be toothbrushes and they're battery operated ones which stand up. Obviously though, water would dribble down them.

Minnie you have to bite the bullet and decide what your having on that shelf, once you know for definate we can help more. Just for pure time and ease I would put four mosaics on the front, then tile the shelf to get a flush finish. Go on, you know you can do it.

Yeah, but they did look pretty. *sigh*

Right, will have to build shelf up, and stick with my triangle then.

Going to pub now. I deserve it. I have a brainache

Yeah, I did realise after that I should have carried on the tile trim through but hadn't cut it hence the empty tiling space there. Bit worried that I'm going to get a funny looking bit of trim where the (almost non-existant) corners meet/don't meet.

Anyway, gotta go out. I have all these mosaics left. Maybe I should buy a plain flat mirror and stick the remaining mosaics round the edge

For inspiration with the mosaic mirror, go to Mosaic Girl's website, cool things on there.
