I think she is the top mod Minnie, you better get under the table, she can reach you in Brixton

<------- she only looks like that when angry (as all women do)

:lol::lol:

Are you sure? She mentioned Grumpy. Is there a moderator called Grumpy? His employees must be the rest of the dwarves

It's so unfair, all them smileys are blocked on this computer :mad2:

When I was working, they were blocked for me as well.

Have you tried Click Smilies?

There's loads there but they do take some ploughing through

Latest problem (well not really as I anticipated this problem)

The mosaics don't fit the vertical bit. They can go 4 deep but only squished together, but 3 deep means there's too much of a gap. Think I'm going to have to stick with the normal tiles.

Ignore those tiles on the ledge. They're just old cut-offs

hi minnie

yes it will

but that looks better than the grout joint facing up and it stays cleaner

the alternative is to use trim

most tiles these days dont have a glazed edge so we use trim rather than having a raw unglazed edge visible which can look unfinished and in time get grubby

in that situation if its specified as no trim i mitre the tiles on that edge so you only have a small grout line visible

i mitre the back of the tile on my wet cutter by cutting the biscuit away about 30 degrees

its time consuming and needs care but the finished job makes it worthwhile

this wont work if you decide to use mosaics on the face edge

you need to raise the level of your shelf so that the mosaics fit nicely allowing for a grout joint betwween the mosaics and the bottom of the shelf tiles

if you take care and its not too deep a bed you can skim with addy and allow to dry

if its about 9mm or more i use backerboard dont use ply as it may take in moisture and lift your tiles

Can't do that as tiles on the wall are already on unless the horizontal tiles overlap the vertical. Have decided against mosaics in that area full stop as don't know how I'd do the sealant at the bottom if I did them on the vertical.

Can't use trim on the mosaics. The trim I have isn't big enough for the mosaics and I'm not spending another £17.

You do realise I'm doing this on a budget don't you and I've already gone way over that. As much as I'd like to do an excellent job, I don't have the time. I'm still awaiting my mosaics and then have a line of tiles to do above them. Then I've got the sealing to do and then cleaning the place. It's almost Christmas and I've got shopping to do, the house is a tip etc.

As long as it looks better than it did before, b/f will be happy.

hi minnie

the shelf will be above the vertical tiles behind but if your going to get your mosaics to look anything you are going to have to compromise somewhere
