If your happy with how the tiles look Minnie and you have already cut them then carry on the way you are, they look ok on that shelf.

Better than the other two horizontal surfaces which I may have to redo at another time after Christmas. I just couldn't get them right for some reason and two of the tiles haven't stuck.

Anyway, I've decided mosaics on the shelf above sink are going to be too difficult as I'd have to cut them and they're too expensive for me to screw up so I'm going to go with the same tiles I've used everywhere else even if that does mean extra grout lines. Still not sure what I'm going to do with vertical bit behind sink. Had thought of putting the mosaics there but then how do I do the sealant at the bottom of the mosaics?

Did I get an answer as to whether the horizontal tiles on the shelf should overlap the vertical ones? ie. should I lay them overlapping the shelf so they cover the edges of the vertical?

Am I even making sense?

Tiles not sticking ? usually caused by un-primed walls or if its a tubbed adhesive did you leave the lid off overnight? it can dry out pretty quickly and lose its grab.

These two particular sections were where I had to tile over old tiles (which I had scored)

Not leaving lid off. Covering in cling film.

This horizontal area which had white tiles under the green tiles and had filled holes

Whichever way the tiles overlap will not make much difference to the finish, your not using trims are you? it might be easier to put the verticals in first, get them level and then tile the shelf. Siliconing around taps etc, we get this all the time, I'm afraid it comes down to practice makes perfect, just cut a small piece off the nozzel at a slight angle and go for it, you can smooth it off with the fairy liquid trick, keep smoothing it until you are happy with the finish.

And you are making sense.

ah, that's what I was doing and it just occurred to me that I was going wrong somewhere.

I think my confidence has taken a battering somewhere along the line. I'm in sudden panic mode

what's the maximum gap acceptable between the bottom of the tile and the bath please?

When I was cutting yesterday with a frozen brain, I overcut and I've more like a 5 or 6mm gap. I did it on 3 tiles and those tiles can't be used anywhere else. Is this gap too large for the silicon and do I need to cut some new tiles or can I get away with such a large gap?

Questions questions

Minnie it is a bit on the large side, 3mm would have been better, it just means you have to be extra good with the Silicon. Why not buy some corner tape from one of the sponsors on the forum, funnily enough they are called corner tape, they supply all different tapes for different sizes and you will find that you get a nice finish. Someone will put a link up because I dont know how to. :mad2:
