Hi guys,

I have been giving some thought recently to doing a plumbing course in order to offer a bathroom fitting service as well as tiling. Does anybody else do this? If so is it worth doing? Where is the best place to do a course?

Any help much appreciated

Andy.

If it's a like for like suite swap then your average plumbing course will suffice but what if the house has an old soil stack to replace or has the dreaded micro bore ro what about a sparky for a power shower or a sunken bath with no fall needing a non return valve, all things that can cause problems when quoting and attempting. I tend to engage a few trusted plumbers myself and just make a margin on their work.

ive heard bathroom fitting and plumbing isnt as hard as it seems im going to book a 5 day course at chase in a few months im sure that is all i will need to be able to complete a full bathroom install and basic plumbing and advertise bathroom installs my self

I work with plumber doing bathroom refurbs, we do the rip outs together, when he's plumbing I labour and when I tile or plaster he's the labourer, we learn off each other, great to have someone to talk to as well..

im just tiling on the side at the moment as im going away to Oz for a year in December.

when i come back im going into tiling full time on my own and am going to do a plastering course and also a plumbing course as I also want to do full bathroom refurbs!!

strings and bows and all that lol

Hi Newbie tiler I finished a nvq 2 plumbing in 2000 which I did part time teaches you the basics and more but the problem is if your not working with someone who has been there and done it you will struggle. You learn with someone elses experience and your own mistakes . after 8 years im still learning new things. moved on to tiling and have a good number of bathrooms under my belt but have booked on a course with Nett as feel I still have more to learn and plenty of mistakes still to make.
