Following my post 'worst ever' what is the best ever experience on a job that your've had.

weather it be a comment on your work, a present or a drink, or any thing to make you proud or your work

I did a job for an elderly couple about 10 years ago, the husband used to be the boss of the woodshop in Rollsroyce when it was in Crewe. When I had finished he said he would walk around to my house with the money, he did and I invited him in for a cup of tea. While there he noticed a letter opener that I have which has a flying lady on it as a handle (same as the flying lady on a roller) he showed some interest in it and then went away.
A month later he turns up with a hand made mahogany knife holder, it has ebony feet and a gold leaf band around it, the letter opener fitted in the ebony holder perfectly, it has a pen on it, it also has the Rolls Royce name and my initials in Gold leaf. A handmade piece of lovely craftsmanship that would probably cost a few hundred quid. It sits on my office desk and is often commented on.

Will try and load a picture.

Will one of the super duper admin/mods please move the pictures that I managed to upload to an album to this thread please, many thanks in advance.

i remember when i was working with my uncle in dagnman essex, doing a loft conversion, the old couple had a son with spinal bifida, and it was my 18th bday, they bought me a stanly belt along with a knife and hammer. well chuffed, as we finished the job, he gave me a dewalt drill 24v that he bought a couple of years earliar.

another we done was a loft in dagnam heath, the bloke was a driver for coca cola, every week i got 2 cases of diet coke (cans) and 1 case of dr.pepper (bottle). only to repay him by slipping on a rather and putting the ceiling on his bed 😳
