I found this Bookkeeping spreadsheet on the 'net last night. It has been designed for Ltd. Co. accounts but it can be easily modified.

It may be useful to those people that want to use spreadsheets for your books.
I have had a look through it and it is straight forward, though obviously I had nothing to do with it's creation so I can have no responsibility for errors.
If you don't need VAT ignore the vat columns
