bowed quartz floor tiles

Hi,

Looking for some advice please.

I had 10mts of black quartz 600x600mm layed on under floor heating in my hallway last oct. Tiler was great and it all went well. After xmas I noticed a couple of tiles had come loose. No problem I thought,rang the tiler and he came back to rectify. On inspection it seems that the tiles have bowed/concaved in the middle and curled up a the edges.

Two months on and we are stuck coming to a conclusion.

My tiler says he used the right adhesive (rapid set flexible),followed all instructions and there should be no problem with the tiles. He feels the tiles are below grade and they shouldn't ever be able to bend like this.
The tile supplier it saying that the tiler used the wrong glue and that has caused the problem.

Now I'm stuck and confused....and floorless! I'm starting to agree with the tiler as I'm in shock at the tiles bending so much. Surely that isn't right?The tiles came with no instructions stating a specific/special adhesive should be used and when I ordered the tiles (online from a company in Co Durham) they gave me no indication the tiles could be this volatile.

Can anybody shed any light on the problem? Has anyone had his happen before? I have heard and read online that the company I bought the tiles from has a reputation and the tiles they supply are not up to standard. Obviously I wont state the company name but has anyone encountered any problems along the same lines with online quartz suppliers?

Can you post a pic of the tiles please and do you have a spare to compare with for flatness.

Is this a resin tile? was it back buttered? Sounds strange!

Yeah thats the company I got them from. Is this something you have heard about before? I know a few other suppliers have!!

I havn't got any pics at present. Will try to upload some soon. Basically if you turned the tile face down on a worktop you could easily slide a £1 coin in the gap/bow in the middle! The tiles have been dumped apart from 1 which I have sent to the adhesive makers so they can analyse it. Adhesive was Granfix fast set flexible and the tiles were fixed using a 15mm trowel onto the existing concrete screed. To be fair the tiles were not loose in the middle,just on the edges where they bent upwards. Granfix have no idea why this has happened and that is why they a sked for a tile to test its stregnth and composit. They say the adhesive should be perfectly acceptable to fit quartz (resin) tiles and the tiler I've used hasn't done anything unacceptable.

Yes.. i have heard a few probs about certain Resin tiles.. sounds like a problem with the tiles coping with heat..
