we had the cane at our school as i am sure many members experienced and looking back it was not a bad thing.
what did upset me was that a fellow pupil albeit being a prefect in the same house was allowed to beat the younger pupil as well, and this could be for a small a matter of not polishing his shoes to his standard.

should mention, the fact i got kicked out for smacking an RSM is irrelevant! I am far more disciplined now 🙂

A lot of the problem is the molly coddling culture of the country, nothing is ever anybody's fault. no job? that's not your fault, here's some benefits. addicted to drugs? that's not your fault go back to work if you ever get clean, here's some benefits. Don't like your council house? that's completely reasonable, here's a different one!

No one HAS to do anything anymore because if they don't want to there will be someone there to do it for them or bail them out. As a country we are just too soft!

Im with everyone on here, they ALL bloody useless !
When they moan 'oh these bags are heavy' ext ect im like
" heavy heavy wtf u on about, when i was serving my time they were 50kg,i used to have to mix 50 a day in a bath with a rake,more if all the plasterers were on site,used to mix skim with a stick, any lumps and i had to mix again,i used to mix compo by hand cos out mixers were junk,always breaking down, full houses knocked off by hand not' oh this is too hard' i used to walk to work not get picked up at my door,if i did owt wrong i took the rollocking like a man not go home and cry to my mum,if they wanted a brew i made it not moaned about it i i i i i i grrrrooooowwwwlllll"
He just looks through me with his mouth open and his eyes glazed over,phone in hand ready for his next text !
He be with me for a bit longer, he is a extra pair of hands, just about, well one hand his other is a mobile phone 😉

No, I was midway through basic training when it happened, 1 yr junior leader, I just got "advised" the army wasn't for me and did one.

Still appreciate all the lessons I was taught thou, and I've never intentionally hit anyone since!
