Hi guys & girls, just wondering if any of you use software for keeping track of ins & outs?

Ive been looking at SAGE but not sure if its worth it.

Im a one man band so dont have a great deal of paperwork, but I am terrible at keeping things in order!

I use sage at work for my current day job. It's a great program but quite an in depth one. There are plenty free ones available that do the same job.
I used to design databases. They are only as good as the info you put in.
Personally for sole trader, you could get away with a simple spreadsheet. Sales invoices 1 column, purchase invoices the other. Easily work out your profit etc.
Microsoft excel or open office would do. I'd tend not to pay out on proper software.

I've got a basic spreadsheet for my own records but the account does my bookkeeping now. Makes life easier and give me more time to actually run the business.

I use Excel with simple formulas that add columns as you go, so I just type in numbers and totals come out the other end - simples! (when you know how of course :smilewinkgrin it's really easy to learn how.
