Cheaper adhesive

Out of curiosity has anyone used everbuilds tile adhesive?

I have heard of it, my local industrial supplier stocks it but I haven't used it. Have used the Silicon though and it goes on really well. Problem was, I didn't use sanitary grade, just the standard stuff. Great on walls and around the bath but it seemed to react with the Fastflex addy on the floor and went yellow!!

used to use it all the time. the slow set white flexi is nice to use but not many places stock it

the bucket gear is ok to use as well

Bought 3 tubs of their 701 but each tub was very wet in the middle ( not sure if just a bad batch or not ) but decided I'll give it a miss in the future

Cheers guys i got granfix supergrip instead didnt want the risk.

Ardex or Bal every time......or some times Howtex.

granfix supergrip is the mutts nuts. dont need battens when using that gear

Only ever used it the once and that was yesterday i bought it cos my usuall supplier of webber ran out so bought 10 tubs (get one free with 10 tubs) and then they gave me tub of granfix standard for FREE!!!

With you living leeds Wayne you will probably know the place i got them from iy was YTT at Bradford

The way I see it with adhesives and grouts is the same as everything else, you get what you pay for.
I personally think you probably cant go wrong with any of the 4 biggest adhesive manufacturers, BAL, Ardex, Mapei or Weber.
If stuffs cheap then its generally for a reason and that will be that the stuff its made of isnt as good or there isn't as much of the good stuff in it.
With the above brands your probably paying a bit for the name and in the case of BAL your also paying for the fantastic back up you get if you have a problem. When i worked there if there was a problem on site we would generally have somebody on site within 24 hours, is this the case with other companies?
Perhaps the best way to go is to find an own brand adhesive in an independant store made by one of the above manufacturers.

a small 3 shop independent near me have their own brand, it's made by granfix and is excellent...£6.50 for a 10l tub.
