I think a bigger problem lies with the fact that it looks like a shower door frame runs up along that window/shelf.
Is that a shower door frame?

That’s my issue with it, in order to match that trim should of been placed on the top of the tile so the trim joins with the vertical one as it does around the window and on the other side of the bathroom.
 
It’s not something I’d do either. It’s an odd decision to make in my option. Perhaps ask the Tiler why he did it. Sometimes people get set in their ways and need to be told when something isn’t right which in this case it certainly isn’t.
